Hair troubles, advise wanted (pic heavy)
Edited on Fri Jul-21-06 06:57 PM by TheFriendlyAnarchist
After seeing a thread on this yesterday, I decided I could do with some advice as well. I need to know what will look good on me as far as hairstyles go before school starts. Here are some pictures of me:

This one is me with really long hair (it would take me another 2 months to get it this long):

Here's one after a weird haircut in April:

This one is in June (I'm the one in the white shirt):

And here's one with no hair (I just like this picture :P ):

If any of you have an idea of what I should do, I'd appreciate it. I either have to get it trimmed and grow it out, or get it cut again. Also, if you suggest growing it out, styling idea's would be nice (it gets really funny looking because it bushes out into a Beavis type haircut before it turns into curls).

1. i like the curls, my hair is bone straight so i always envy curly hair
i'm sure they must make tons of products for curly hair. I'd let it grow out.

5. Grow the curls out a little more.
Find a girl with nice curly hair and hit her up for advice about product. I'd help but I'm useless on that front since my hair is at best vaugely wavy

The "My Bodyguard" look isn't good.

9. Either...
Buzzcut..

or maybe.. just maybe...

you could pull off dredlocks. You have a sort of face that I think dreds would look good on you.

26. I almost got dreds, but decided not to because I would have had to get
them professionally done if I didn't want to wait for weeks or months for them to start knotting. I'm cheap, and that would have cost considerably more than a normal cut

29. I still say go for the dreds...
How much more is "considerably" more... I mean it's your call, but like I said, I think you have a face that can pull off dreds, though they are a pain in the butt for maintenance.

35. Yea, salons cost can cost 100-400 bucks for dreads, but if I get
a kit and do it myself (with the help of friends), it's 55. Still have to see what my school will think though

10. OMG, those curls!!!

:wow:

WHY is all the really great hair wasted on the boys?!? That is SO unfair. :(

I would keep the curls, they are gorgeous. I really like your hair in the first picture, maybe half an inch shorter if that would give it a shape you liked better and/or make it easier to control, if that is a problem. But I think it's great just the way it is there, too.

...Better watch out, I would kill for your curls!

;)

13. Guys always get the best eyelashes too
My first boyfriend had eyelashes that were so thick and lush that on a woman people would have assumed they were fake. It's. just. not. fair.

17. There's a reason for that
Society doesn't allow men to use mascara, so we've got to come by our long, lush lashes naturally.

11. Dude I feel your pain
Curly hair on a guy can be a real P.I.T.A.
Sometimes you can't do anything with it.
you either grow it really long or cut it really short. Anything in between is hard to manage..
At least that from my personal experience

18. I like it curly.
I have curly hair too. But you just need to get a little shape into it. I would call around salons and find a hair stylist that knows how to cut curly hair. Of if you know someone that has great looking curly hair ask them where they go. You also have to consider your lifestyle. Curly hair requires a little more upkeep. The short style would be easier. Neither one looks bad on you. You just need shaping and you need to consider how much time you are willing to spend on it. Even though being a guy it will be less, curly hair or not. :)

and just investing in gel to style it while it grows (gotta do something that looks semi decent until it curls)

23. Wouldn't worry too much, but if you ask
First, your eyes pop out, and anything that frames them or makes them pop more is going to get you the best, um, mileage? You know what I mean.

I like the first two about the same, but both need a little something. First one needs to shape your forehead a bit more. Better part or something. Plus, needs a bit of trim on the spot where it isn't curly, where it kind of slicks out to the side.

The second one is a nice shape, but a little too much something in the front. Too much like a pompador. A little more trim, a little less "poof" would be good. Maybe short bangs. Something like the roman gladiator look that was popular a while back, but not so dated. Talk to a real stylist.

With those eyes and smile, it's just a matter of fine tuning the frame--the eyes are your selling point.

And yeah, I'm a straight older guy, so I'm not the one you should listen to the most!

i think you should grow your hair out and let nature take its course, that is, until it gets too long for your taste. Do what you want.

33. Grow it out a little more, leave the top sort of long, pushed off to the
side, keep the sides quite short and brush it all back off your face, with some dangling down a bit across the side of the forehead.

Keep it pushed back behind the ears, but as I said, keep it short along the sides so that it's not in big thick blobs.

Leave it a little fuller across the top of the back and tapered along the back bottom, again, to make sure it doesn't get all blobby.

The key is the styling along the sides and off your face behind your ears, with a casual sort of half fringe curl over your left eye.

HOT baby, very, very hot.

Keep it relaxed and casual.

Oh, and if you need a more formal look with this style, practice slicking it back with some product. You will then ease into a professional look.
