1. As a believer in neither heaven nor hell,
I'd have to disagree.

So, how about that Wittgenstein? Was Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus really somethin', or what?

Be nice if more people paid attention to that, eh? It'd do wonders for the signal-to-noise ratio of most discourse.

14. Yup, especially during the summer when I spend time in CT.
Digging fresh clams everyday. Lobsters that my stepdad gets scuba diving, etc. It's awesome. It's balanced out though with stripers, bluefish, and fluke from our morning's catch. Yeah, I pretty much live off fresh fish when I stay there.

No, honestly. I can't sit by while others are tortured. See if I don't make a damned good effort to remove it from this world too. :grr:

29. Oh, that part's easy
Immanuel Kant was a real pissant who was very rarely stable
Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar who could think you under the table
David Hume could out-consume Schopenauer and Hegel
And Wittgenstein was a beery swine who was just as schloshed as Schlegel

There's nothin' Nietzsche couldn't teach ya 'bout the raisin' of the wrist
Socrates himself was permanently pissed

John Stuart Mill, of his own free will, drank half a pint of Shandy, was particularly ill
Plato, they say, could stick it away — half a crate of whiskey every day
Aristotle, Aristotle was a beggar for the bottle; Hobbes was fond of his dram
And Rene Descartes was a drunken fart: "I drink, therefore, I am"

Yes, Socrates himself is particularly missed
A lovely little thinker but a bugger when he's pissed

No dark sarcasm in the classroom!

Hey, teacher, leave them kids alone!

All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all your just another brick in the wall.

We don't need no education!

Teachers leave those kids alone.

Hey, teacher, leave those kids alone!

All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

(I typed that as I was listening to P Floyd, so I typed what they said. Pretty fast huh?)

anyway (granted, I couldn't get past the first book :P), so I guess I like your answer best (about converting satan). Although, as I said in another post, if this is the Christian god, I don't know if I would want to serve someone who was willing to send me to hell if I didn't read their book.

Satan is opposed to God, right? You got to hell for breaking God's laws, right? Well, why would Satan be mean to you? You're on the same side! I think it's just one big old party down there, personally.

You don't have to believe it, read it, or give two shits about it, but the Bible is something that a lot of us hold in high regard. No need to belittle something I and lots of others hold dear.

a long and, to me, tedious poem.......

I point out the corollary:

A Big Fish in a Small Pond

or:

Did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
