Pierced Ear infection....help
Little MB's piercing is infected.

I have no clue how to treat it...anyone have any ideas?

I heard that I should take the earring out and let it close up and redo them later.

I heard that I should leave it in, and treat it with rubbing alcohol.

Help me out DUers...

2. This is gonna get locked re: the "no medical advice" rule.
But yeah, I'd take it out just as a basic first step.
That "leave it in", WTH? No sense to that. It's ornamental, not NECESSARY.
No reason to risk health for an ornament.

3. I had piercing holes that wouldn't heal.
I kept removing the earrings, putting them back on, removing them.... I found out that I was allergic and started using earrings with plastic stems. Healed right up. It was painful; I had redness and swelling. You should get Little MB to a doctor pronto.

4. simple
leave the earring in and clean with hydrogen peroxide 2-3 times/day by sliding the earring back & forth. After cleaning, put some bacitracin on the piercing. They should have given you those instructions when little MB got her ears pierced.
It should clear up in about a week.

It may not be necessary. How new is the piercing? Is the earring a post-type or ring? What is the ring made of (gold, stainless steel, etc; this could be a nickel allergy acting up)?

The Asociation of Professional Piercers know their stuff. Go here and follow the aftercare instructions http://www.safepiercing.org/bodyAftercare.html and I bet it'll help a lot.

It is a 14k post, but I think the post is on too tight. I have a dr appt for her this afternoon.

Thanks for the link - very helpful
