Why bullfighting is inhumane. OUCH!
The best argument I've ever seen for avoiding bullfighting - at least as a participant.

1. I don't know what's more embarassing
The fact that you're getting fondled by a pissed off bull or those powder blue tights you have to wear.

3. Good for the bull!
I hope that hurt as much as it hurts me to look at it.

5. I was actually taken to bullfights as a child.. It was SICKENING..
Edited on Fri Dec-19-03 11:42 AM by SoCalDem
I would always close my eyes and root for the bull to win.. One day he DID.. A young very angry bull actually jumped the barricade and ran through the stands.. Several people were probably hurt, but as a 7 or 8 yr old, that was not my concern.. I was only glad that for that small moment, the bull was winning..

They always used to tell me that the bull would be donated to the orphanage so that the children there would have food.. Even as a child I always asked.. "Why do they torture it before they kill it?..And why do we have to watch??"..

UGH..I hate bullfights:(

7. I'm an avid hunter and I have to tell you
that bullfighting doesn't necessarily sicken me. I do, however, fail to see the point, glory, or whatever else is in the minds of the participants and audience.

It seems to be a terribly cruel activity. I cannot support it.

11. It is torture, pure and simple.
Whether you torture a person or an animal, it is sick.

8. See those things sticking out of the bulls back?
I see those and wish the bull would stomp that bastard into dust. God help me but I can find no sympathy in my heart for bullfighters.

9. Hey, I love the pic!!! Let's make it a bit more even, shall we?
I say we allocate a few of the bandarilleras to the bull and an equal number to the matador, eliminate the picadors and let the two sides at each other. The visual of the matador and the bull fighting it out, both with small darts sticking out of them, would be much more enlightening. Reminds me an old Tom Lehrer song (I'm really old enough to remember when it first came out in the 50s).

13. I love it when matadors get railed by the bull
Tying up his balls, sticking spears in him.

Freakin' barbaric.

14. Didn't this guy die?
I remember seeing video of a matador getting gored in the crotch. He later died in hospital.

15. They usually injure the bull before the fight even begins
it's definately not fair. It's cruel and disgusting.

16. In Spain, they broadcast it in the sports channels
Almost as horrifying as the "show" itself is the narrator's nonchalance describing the event. "Well, Mr. Assholón doesn't seem to be in a good day today, you can see the bull is standing and spewing blood for almost three minutes after he hit it with the sword... he seems to perform better in wider arenas..."

18. When I visted my ex-bf in Mexico, he was always trying
to talk me into going to the bullfight. We had several arguments about it. He just didn't understand why I htought it was bad to torture the animal. They really don't see animals the same way there, I guess.

He told me this story once... when he lived in Cozumel, some American tourists witnessed a car running over a dog. They went to check and see if the dog survived. They cried because it was dead. The Mexicans stood around laughing at the tourists for being so stupid and crying over a dog.

I would have been crying too:-(

I guess it's a good thing I didn't move in with him.... what might he have done to my cat?????
