Snoopy -vs- The Red Baron
The news had come out of the First World War
The Bloody Red Baron was flying once more
The Allied Command ignored all its men
And Called on Snoopy to do it again.

Was the Night before Christmas, 40 below
When Snoopy went up in search of his foe
He spied the Red Baron, fiercely they fought
With ice on his wings Snoopy knew he was caught.

The Red Baron had Snoopy dead in his sights
He reached for the trigger to pull it up tight
Why he did not shoot, well, we will never know for sure
Or was it bells from the village below.

The Baron made Snoopy fly to the Rhine
And forced him to land behind enemy lines
Snoopy was certain that this was the end
When the Baron cried out, "Merry Christmas my friend"

The Baron offered a holiday toast
And Snoopy, our hero, saluted his host
And then with a roar they were both on their way
Each knowing they would meet on some other day.

Merry Christmas DU, mods , admin, to my buddies, my enemies, to our military away from home,

MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIENDS

1. One of my favorite albums when I was a kid
Had the first three "Red Baron" songs (there was a "Snoopy for President" song that came out later and faded immediately) on one side, with commentary around them as if it were a radio broadcast.

On Side B were a few songs..."Kinda Looks Like Christmas" and "Down Behind the Lines" are all I recall now.

Sigh. Thanks for the memories!

4. Me too ...
I completely forgot about that one. Geeze, I'd like to get my hands on that again for my kids.

Cheers

3. You go Red Baron!
Love that "carol". Humanity and fellowship, even on the battlefield. Had we accepted teh "Christmas Armistace" the world would be a much different place. No WW2, no Middle East Crisis, no 9/11....

5. I've got that album sitting on my bookcase
shelf, only thing is I've got no way to play it now, and I haven't looked to see what condition the record is in. It just sits there, waiting.
It was the first album I ever bought, that's why it's survived after all this time.
