Need some good thoughts & positive energy for my dog.
My middle aged lab's rear legs went mostly paralyzed on him Friday. No warning/history. He's in the vet hospital now for tests and potential surgery. Just to keep things interesting he may also have a cancerous tumor in one front leg.

This is a very special, amazingly intuitive dog. The kind of dog that makes writers come up with sayings like "if dogs don't go to heaven then I want to go where the dogs go." I took him in a couple years ago after he'd been through several homes that didn't work out, through no fault of his, and he really changed my life for the better. I'm a little worried how I'll handle losing him if the worst should happen.

I'd appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

3. Sending good thoughts & positive energy your way!
Hope your best friend recovers soon! Just curious, I pictured him as a black lab. What color lab is he? Labs are the best...in fact, the vet recommended we get a Lab, if we ever get a dog, because they are so good with cats and have fewer health problems than some breeds.

Hang in there!

6. He's a yellow lab.
He photographs almost white. And he seems to get along with anything that'll let him get a good sniff.

5. We had a similiar situation a few years ago
come to find out it was a neural reaction to pesticide/weed killer used in a neighbors lawn. With a lot of care and numerous visits to the vets we were able to save one dog, but unfortunately another finally succumbed to it.

9. Thanks, all. I just went to visit the big guy and
he's a little doped up. I brought him a new toy just like the first one I gave him two years ago. Thought that might give him a little comfort while he's in there.

17. I lost the most beautiful girl in the world a little over a week ago
and the new recruit is on her way even though I still cry every day. I just couldn't stand it, that space without my lovely Lab.

Sending all good things your way. Please keep us posted.

This was my dear girl and if she doesn't go to heaven, I want to go where she is. No contest. :)

22. Thanks again, all. And one last thought for the night:
"Can't find God in the usual places ...
churches, books or preachers' faces?
Keep on searching and don't give up,
You may just find Him in the eyes of a pup.

30. It's not looking good.
Rosco's got serious nodules on his spine, trachea and lung. And the elbow. They're going to do one last test to see if it's possibly a fungal growth... but it's probably cancer.
