3. Thanks Heidi. The camera doesn't do the colors justice.
I didn't know or remember that you're from these parts. :pals:

10. Not from those parts specifically,
but I was born in Arkansas, raised in Oklahoma, and spent one very long and glorious summer in Kentucky when I was seven years old. And, as you know, I'm all about color. :D

Thank you for sharing these photos, gf. I miss ya.

13. I hated to come back to work after being there
in the mountains for a few days.

Lots of local apples and pumpkins for sale everywhere. Air was crisp. Just beautiful.

you made my day! That's the part of the country where I lived growing up and again after school for a few years....Living in Middle GA now, I DO MISS the fall colors of the Appalachian Mountains. I've driven the Parkway many times...Beautiful. Thanks again.

:yourock:

BTW, is that pond located on a golf course? Looks familiar.

After I thought about it some more, I realized the golf course wasn't on the Parkway...pretty close, though.

Heh, maybe your parents know mine.

I went to Fancy Gap Elementary School.

My dad was just at a fund-raising dinner for Rick Boucher in Hillsville a week or so ago.

30. As I told Lex...
I know Fancy Gap and Hillsville...My brother-in-law's father was a minister in Hillsville. Rick Boucher was my Rep. when I lived in a little town called Honaker.

35. It's a very nice place, Fancy Gap and surrounding areas.
My parents have a mountain house up in those parts but weren't raised there.

The people in the area are nice as can be. I've grown to really love Fancy Gap.

Nice to meet you! :hi:

29. Oh, man...
Fancy Gap! I've been through there a hundred times on my way through Mt. Airy...Drive down the mountain instead of the Interstate. My two older daughters were born in Richlands, Virginia. You are making me homesick.

Hwy 52 down the mountain to Mt. Airy--full of apples and pumpkins and mums this time of year in the open air markets.

It's grand there right now.

And Mt. Airy is sweet as can be too.

31. Oh man...I miss that.
:( And I didn't appreciate it when I was little and my family would go on these huge long car rides on the Blue Ridge...sometimes we were lucky and got to stop at Grandfather or Pilot Mountain...but not usually. I'd give anything to be bored like that again.
