I'm going to find ways to make them even more wasteful.

Heh, it's a good way to flip through the tunes and find stuff you haven't heard in a long time, isn't it?

17. Ellis is one of my favorites!
I catch his shows whenever I can -- which is not often enough here in Denver.

So that makes two of us, at least!

Do you have any favorites of his?

24. There are so many
"Home" from his most recent release.

When You Break Down
Conversation with a Ghost
Last Call (I've lived that one :( )
3000 Miles
Breaking Through the Radio

Have you checked out the forums on his website? I had a question about the poem "Love's Too Familiar a Word" and he replied.

I also really like Dead Head Pilot story and Angel in Manhattan.

He's a treasure. I'm hoping to get to the Woody Guthrie festival this summer. My sister's in Tulsa so I'd get to see my nephews too. :)

What are your favorites?

25. I really liked "Jukebox In My Grave" from American Jukebox Fables
In the same vein, I like "Martyr's Lounge." (Maybe I'm a sucker for the postmodern celebrity song thing?)

But from seeing his shows (and since you mention Woody Guthrie) I'm really fond of "Way Over Yonder In The Minor Key" and "God's Promise." It's just amazing to hear how well 60-year-old lyrics fit into modern songwriting.

And it's hard to not like "3000 Miles," no matter how often you hear it. Something about the anthemic guitar and the great storytelling...

And on a side note, every time I see "Quando, Quando, Quando," I think of the scene in The Blues Brothers where Jake and Elwood swing by the hotel to round up Murph and they hear him playing this with the MagicTones... and the pink-shag Rhodes keyboard.
