Help! I'm trapped at a Panera Bakery.
I came up to get some tea and start setting up my new Nano iPod. I've never had one before, so I set out following the instructions. Download iTunes software - check. Plug in iPod - check. That's where it falls apart. Apparently the iPod needs to charge for about 4 hours and there are stern warnings that say "DO NOT DISCONNECT" until charge is complete. Shit.

So, I'm stuck at Panera for 4 hours on a beautiful afternoon when I could be at the park or finishing errands, housework, etc.

1. Right click on your iPod's icon in iTunes.
and click on 'eject.' Problem solved. :)

2. Even though it's the first charge for this Nano?
I'm scared. Real scared CMW.

3. No worries.
You always can charge it fully later. Heck, I was even used to yank my Nano out if it was still showing 'Do not disconnect.' It's still fine.

6. I'm nervous about pulling it. From the Apple website:
Question: Do I need to "prime" my iPod's battery by letting it charge for 24 hours before I use it the first time?
Answer: No. Just charge the battery until the indicator says the battery is full.

But I sure as heck don't want to sit here all afternoon, so I'm leaning towards taking your advice.

Any other DU'ers care to chime in? Speak now or forever hold your peace!

9. Yeah, do what CMW said.
My brother and I have both done that with our ipods with no negative consequences.

7. I will not survive 8 hours in this bakery.
I may try to harm myself with bagels and pastries.

11. order a dozen
if they question you, explain to them that your friend on the Internet recommended them. They usually only make them by special order.

that'll eat up half an hour . . .

12. Oh, what a horrible place to be stuck for 4 hours. (tongue in cheek)
Hell, it takes me that long to decide which of their goodies I'll start with.

Really, if you have to stuck someplace, Panera bread sure beats just about everything else I can think of.
