Kindness of my brother in law
I rode my scooter from St Louis to Springfield on Friday. It was cold but I didn't get really cold until the last hour of the ride.

Saturday I got SICK with the flu. Both ends. I was ill until Christmas Day. Since I wasn't running a fever I decided to visit my mom. My brother in law and my sister also stopped by to visit. While there we got to talking about my going back to St Louis today. As they were getting ready to leave my bro in law said he'd put my scooter on his trailer and give me a ride back to St Louis!

I was floored!

I told them I didn't have the extra money to give them gas money and they were OK with it.

Oh BTW, both my sister and her husband are HARD CORE Fox "News" watching Bush loving fundies.

I am overwhelmed by their generosity and kindness to me today.

1. That's a nice story.
Sorry you got sick. Hope you're feeling better now. :)

2. Thinking about it brings tears to my eys.
I want to do something nice for them. Trouble is whatever they want, and they truly don't "want" much, they can buy. Does a thank you card really mean a lot after someone gives up five hours of their day off in the service of others?

I should add that this brother in law is also a mensch when it comes to his mom. She has alzheimers and if it wasn't for him she'd be on the street. His brother would have long cleaned her out but my bro in law is there to make sure her bills are paid and she eats and takes her meds.

I've never felt close to him until I talked with him yesterday.

Goes to show you don't ever know....

3. I think a thank-you card is always nice.
Writing something heartfelt, just like what you've written here, would mean a lot. He sounds like a very kind person indeed. And I agree... sometimes you never really know. :)
