Has anyone had cosmetic surgery, ie facelift related?
More and more I am considering going for upper and lower eyelid surgery.
One eye appears smaller for some odd reason and my upper eyelids are very droopy.

That and a lower facelift would do wonders to get rid of the puppet-chin I am sporting.

Anyone had this or know the cost?

1. if you are going to do this, get the best person you can.
I personally don't think any optional surgery is good idea because every time you go under the knife, its a risk, but if you want to do this, I recommend talking to some nurses (not doctors). The nurses know who is the best and will usually be honest with you, or ask your own physician.

the difference between a good plastic surgeon and a bad one is huge.

6. I had tried to answer you, but the thread was locked and I lost the msg
Yes, I will be extremely careful.
Your tip on speaking with nurses is something I had not considered but believe to be an excellent suggestion.
Thanks!

2. Make sure your doctor is a board certified
PLASTIC surgeon -- not a COSMETIC surgeon. Take your time in deciding on your doctor, make sure you ask them for referrals and references from former patients; if they're above-board they'll have them. If they promise you the moon, leave; they should be brutally honest with you about your expectations.

BTW - most everyone has one eye smaller than the other - you may be noticing it more because of the droopy lids!

Spend some time in the library and on the Internet learning about the types of surgery you think you want to have; the better informed you are, the better able you'll be to make a good decision in your surgeon.

Good luck!

4. The doctor I am considering is cerified by the
American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and his
Medical Degree is from Duke University School of Medicine, Durham, North Carolina

I would definitely be asking for referrals.

I have been considering this for the past 3 years, so this is not a new whim. I have collected and studied numerous websites and so therefore have come to the conclusion that the lower facial lift to get rid of the jowls and puppet chin (lovely sounding, huh?) and the eyelid droop should do just fine.
My nose is fine, and I don't have many wrinkles for a 55 year old woman.

Part of the reason I am wanting to actually do something about it is because I am having such difficulty finding jobs and looking the way I do is certainly not helping.

My current insurance will pay 15% of the surgeon fee for any cosmetic surgery.

If I had money to burn, I would be getting a breast reduction.

3. My mother had the blepharoplasty when she was in her early
fifties for the same reason... the drooping eyelids. She joked that the work should be covered by insurance because they drooped so much she could barely see. The cost will have changed but FWIW, she loved the result.

Glad to hear your mother was happy with the result.
That is very encouraging.

9. The plastic surgeon I am considering does it in his office, but it
is next door to a major hospital.
I know it will cut down on costs to not do it in a hospital setting, but it gives me comfort knowing they are closeby.
Costa Rica scares me.

22. Yup.
Had the upper and lower eye procedure done. My eyes were nearly disappearing! Plus I had some lasering done under my eyes, and my life-long dark circles are GONE!

My FIL is going to get his eyes done. It's not for vanity (though I wouldn't care if it were) but because the skin over his eyes is drooping so badly that it's affecting his ability to see.
