9. the levels of cold (according to my dad)

growing up in Wisconsin, winters could be harsh. We didnt look at a thermometer so much as ask my dad. He would go out early to warm up the car for work, and his answer to "how cold is it?" would determine how much clothing we should put on before heading to the school bus.

we only hit number 5 on very rare occasions. one of the fun games to play while waiting for the bus on those days was to spit and see if it would freeze before hitting the sidewalk. yes, it is possible.
