3. Cabaret
I don't want a funeral. Instead, after my death, I would like my friends and family to go to a karaoke bar, get a little drunk and sing "Cabaret" (the long version with the Elsie verse)as loud as they can.

8. I like your thinking.
That's a nice idea. Just stipulate in my will no funeral...instead a night out for family and friends. I'll save a sum in my will for a few rounds on me. :-)

A little stone statue of the person holding a cup, so friends could come and drink with the person. :D

:-)

Seriously...I don't want to have some ceremony where people are sitting around sad. It's hard to explain.

16. I thought about that one, but
I couldn't do that to my partner. If something really did happen to me, and they played *that* song at my funeral, I'm honestly afraid she'd try to kill herself. It's *too* intensely heartbreaking.

If I thought I could do it without breaking down or choking up, I'd like to *sing* that song at my partner's funeral, though.

"Thanks, That Was Fun" - BNL. Well actually I just want that line etched onto my ashes urn.

"Let There Be Morning" - The Perishers (http://www.myspace.com/theperishers ): lyrics

Now the end is drawing near
I can’t believe it’s finally here
Take some time to pray for me
For what will be

Let the sun rise
Let the birds sing
Let there be light
Let there be morning
I don’t know how
I made it till now
Let there be light
Let there be morning

Hello future goodbye past
Now each breath can be my last
Will I see another dawn?
Will I be reborn?

Let the sun rise
Let the birds sing
Let there be light
Let there be morning
I don’t know how
I made it till now
Let there be light
Let there be morning
(x2)

She has one of the sweetest voices I have ever heard. I didn't discover her until after she had been to American on a small club tour. According to her father Steve she will not fly hence the name of the new album.
I have to see her in concert preferably at one of the festivals. Have you seen the extra on Live at Leeds where she does Our town with Laura Cantrell? I would have given anything to have been there with a pint of Guinness in hand then I could die a happy man.

28. Life Sucks Then You Die by The Fools
I figure this should be a good soul-enlightening tune for such a dire day...

My house burned down in a flash of thunder.
My wife ran off with a one-legged plumber.
My crops fell dead when the riverbed went dry.
My dog got squashed by a pickup truck.
My son ran away and got hooked on drugs.
My daughter's knocked up by the class of '85.

People say that life is good;
It don't seem good to me.
I'm lost without a paddle,
And I'm headed up shit creek.
People say that life is fun,
But I don't know why.
As far as I can tell,
LIFE SUCKS then you die.

The government dumps its toxic waste
Right on top of my mother's grave.
A team of experts say it won't do her no harm.
But my sheep went crazy and killed my mule.
I cut off my dick with a power tool
Fixin' the hole where the meteor hit the barn.
(And it hurt, too!)

People say that life is good,
But I just piss and moan.
I got one foot on a banana peel,
The other in the Twilight Zone.
People say that life is fun,
But I don't know why.
As far as I can tell,
LIFE SUCKS then you die.

Let me hear some "yee-hah"s out there!

I went to the store to buy some shells.
My gun went off and blew the owner to hell.
Now I'm sittin' here in jail, singin' this song.
One guy wants to take my life.
Another guy wants me to be his wife.
Hey, I wish they'd hang me before somethin' really goes wrong!

People say that life is good,
Give thanks for what you have.
When all you have is nothin',
Nothin' makes you glad.
People say that life is fun,
But I don't know why.
As far as I can tell,
LIFE SUCKS, then you die.
I said, people say that life is fun,
But I don't know why.
As far as I can tell,
LIFE SUCKS,
LIFE SUCKS
LIFE SUCKS, then you die.

Besides the usual ones, perhaps "Every breath you take" by Police. I like the idea of being a ghostly presence haunting everyone I used to know.

I also like Robbie Williams singing "Angel" as well because I'm so into a maudlin atmosphere, or just about anything by David Lanz, like "Beloved."

Wash away my troubles, wash away my pain
With the rain in Shambala
Wash away my sorrow, wash away my shame
With the rain in Shambala

(chorus)
Ah, ooh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Everyone is helpful, everyone is kind
On the road to Shambala
Everyone is lucky, everyone is so kind
On the road to Shambala

(repeat chorus)

How does your light shine, in the halls of Shambala

I can tell my sister by the flowers in her eyes
On the road to Shambala
I can tell my brother by the flowers in his eyes
On the road to Shambala

(repeat chorus)

How does your light shine, in the halls of Shambala

I love that song :)

I know what you must be saying to yourselves.
If that's the way she feels about it why doesn't she just end it all?
Oh, no. Not me. I'm in no hurry for that final disappointment.
For I know just as well as I'm standing here talking to you,
when that final moment comes and I'm breathing my lst breath, I'll be saying to myself,

Is that all there is, is that all there is
If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing
Let's break out the booze and have a ball
If that's all there is

85. Take It To The Limit Lyrics/eagles
And when you’re looking for your freedom
(nobody seems to care)
And you can’t find the door
(can’t find it anywhere)
When there’s nothing to believe in
Still you’re coming back, you’re running back
You’re coming back for more

So put me on a highway
And show me a sign
And take it to the limit one more time

I try to make people smile, I would hate for people to remember some sad song they heard for my death as their last thing about me.

I would pick "The Wonderer" by Dion because I heard that song when I was 4 and was hooked on rock and roll. It was to shape my whole life.

96. Hit the Road, Jack
That's me. Jack.

Well, not really.

What I actually want, if I have to choose, is the third movement Adagio from Haydn's Symphony #44 (Trauersymphonie). Serene and consoling, Haydn had it done at his own funeral. That, and "Happy Trails." That I heard played at the end of a funeral once, it was really cool in the context. The guest of honor had requested it.

103. Sea, it's almost become trite.
First time I ever heard it was in the early 80's for Spock. Everyone did it after that. The fact is is someone who really knows how to play the bagpipes plays anything, we cry. They are the pipes of war and death. Country Roads by John Denver would sound like a dirge on the bagpipes.

101. Phil Ochs - When I'm Gone
There's no place in this world where I'll belong when I'm gone

And I won't know the right from the wrong when I'm gone

And you won't find me singin' on this song when I'm gone

So I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here

And I won't feel the flowing of the time when I'm gone

All the pleasures of love will not be mine when I'm gone

My pen won't pour a lyric line when I'm gone

So I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here

And I won't breathe the bracing air when I'm gone

And I can't even worry 'bout my cares when I'm gone

Won't be asked to do my share when I'm gone

So I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here

And I won't be running from the rain when I'm gone

And I can't even suffer from the pain when I'm gone

Can't say who's to praise and who's to blame when I'm gone

So I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here

Won't see the golden of the sun when I'm gone

And the evenings and the mornings will be one when I'm gone

Can't be singing louder than the guns when I'm gone

So I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here

All my days won't be dances of delight when I'm gone

And the sands will be shifting from my sight when I'm gone

Can't add my name into the fight while I'm gone

So I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here

And I won't be laughing at the lies when I'm gone

And I can't question how or when or why when I'm gone

Can't live proud enough to die when I'm gone

So I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here

There's no place in this world where I'll belong when I'm gone

And I won't know the right from the wrong when I'm gone

And you won't find me singin' on this song when I'm gone while I'm here

So I guess I'll have to do it

I guess I'll have to do it

Guess I'll have to do it while I'm here

It's over today
The heat is gone
Time is gone
F for fake
I feel no wrong
Hide no wrong
I love this place
The lights
Under this face
So dry

Only way to change
Give yourself away
Don't be ashamed
Next in line
Close one eye
Just walk by

In these days
I'm breathing stone
Crying alone
I'll win this race
I'll leave alone
Arrive alone.

Love this place
The lights
Under this face
So dry

Stripped to the bone
I did no wrong
Truth is my name
Give yourself away

F for fake
F for fake
F for fake
F for fake
Give yourself away
Give yourself away
Give yourself away

115. "Forever Young" Alphaville.
Lets dance in style, lets dance for a while
Heaven can wait were only watching the skies
Hoping for the best but expecting the worst
Are you going to drop the bomb or not?

Let us die young or let us live forever
We dont have the power but we never say never
Sitting in a sandpit, life is a short trip
The musics for the sad men

Can you imagine when this race is won
Turn our golden faces into the sun
Praising our leaders were getting in tune
The musics played by the madmen

Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever, forever and ever

Some are like water, some are like the heat
Some are a melody and some are the beat
Sooner or later they all will be gone
Why dont they stay young

Its so hard to get old without a cause
I dont want to perish like a fading horse
Youth is like diamonds in the sun
And dimonds are forever

So many adventures couldnt happen today
So many songs we forgot to play
So many dreams are swinging out of the blue
We let them come true

129. "She Goes On" by Crowded House. A beautiful song written by a beautiful
man with lovely lyrics perfect to immortalize a woman...

She Goes On

Pretty soon you'll be able to remember her
Lying in the garden singing
Right where she'll always be
The door is always open

This is the place that I loved her
And these are the friends that she had
Long may the mountain ring
To the sound of her laughter
And she goes on and on

In her soft wind I will whisper
In her warm sun I will glisten
till we see her once again
In a world without end

We owe it all to frank sinatra
The song was playing a she walked into the room
After the long weekend
They were a lifetime together

Appearing in the eyes of children
In the clear blue mountain view
The colouring in the sky
And painting ladders to heaven
And she goes on

In her soft wind I will whisper
In her warm sun I will glisten
till we see her once again
In a world without end

In her soft wind I will whisper
In her warm sun I will glisten
And I always will remember
In a world without end
She goes on
She goes on
She goes on
