Ice Storm PIC Thread:
I took these yesterday:

Inside, where it's warm, there are sometimes battles over who gets the fireplace:

The truce:

Yeah, I know...I need to take down the Christmas decorations, don't I?

26. Do you have to work tomorrow morning?
I do.

Texans either go too fast or too slow on the stuff...:scared:

There never seems to be a happy medium.

Why *isn't* there ever a happy medium in life, anyway? Why do so many things have to be all or nothing?

Just being a little contemplative on this Sunday evening... *sigh*

32. Yes I Do
and I'm pretty contemplative myself this evening.

I need to go back to work since I was off sick a couple of days last week.

I kind of dread it actually!

This was taken yesterday morning and none of it was snow. Today it's now twice as deep.

You have very pretty kitties and a lovely fireplace.

Of course, I can't even bear to look outside since this most recent "round" began an hour ago.

Stay safe..and warm.

Edited on Sun Jan-14-07 05:05 PM by hippywife
I think they said 3000 in our rural county. I think I heard 15,000 or so in Tulsa without power. I hope everyone has found a place to weather this storm. Brrrrr! We're stuck here so if ours goes out, the husband and I and the cat are going to be huddling under the blankets. His UPS started beeping a little while ago for a few minutes so we may have had a few surges. It's been quiet for about an hour so maybe it's okay for now.

It should be almost over. We have one more round, they said, to pass through here...which will even affect us Monday morning (should be a fun commute, to work, tomorrow :-(), but then it's suppose to clear.

21. This storm is covering a lot of territory!
We had round one this morning....a light coating of ice that the plows handled easily. We are in a little lull right now. This, however, is not to last, because the full fury is due to hit around 1:00 am, and we are under winter storm warnings well into Monday night. The event is predicted to come in the form of freezing rain...the worse possible scenario. Much like what so many of you have -- and are experiencing. The news bulletins are predicting power outages, so we are making preperations -- in case. :scared:

Great pictures KC. Are there many fallen limbs? Your fireplace looks yummy, and your kitty's are obviously loving life. Sleeping is so much better than fighting for territory.

22. Thank you!
It *is* covering a lot of territory.

The weather anchor, on The Weather Channel, just laughed at the irony of San Antonio even getting ice...since it is the location for this year's American Meteorological Society's annual meeting. Well, it would seem funny, except my own father is having to drive from Florida...because of his stupid wife.....stupid..(she has a fear of flying)....:banghead:

Now, I'm worried about my father, driving in from the east, right into this stupid ice storm, too. Last I heard, from my sister, they only made it to Lafayette yesterday. The AMS should know better than to have their annual meeting in Texas! *sigh*

It wasn't so much of an ice storm as it was a Thundersleet storm. We have power, of course, or I wouldn't be posting. We're great, except for a little cabin fever. Thanks for worrying.
