I'm thinking you can't do it.

Go ahead. Try. I'll wait.

(and I'm just gonna go ahead and beat Haruka to it - "douchebag!")

1. Gigli?
Matrix 2?

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?

I have not really seen Gigli, but it is supposed to be bad. Very, very, very bad.

203. You're right about Gigli - it scored very low on rottentomatoes (6% on the tomatometer)
I don't recall ANY other movie with a lower score. The critics excoriated it, with comments like "Gigli is precisely as awful as everyone's been saying".

88. That movie was cheesily enjoyable....the second one was bad, though.

If you're a fan of the game (like me), and don't take the movie too seriously, it wasn't bad at all.

The second one was terrible, though.

Not really as bad as everyone claims. Of course, it wasn't good either. It was just there. Beatty and Hoffmann goofing off in the desert. Somebody forgot to write a script, as it seemed like they were just winging it.

29. I watch "Susan" any time it's on.
And I thought "Evita" was OK. I found it distracting, though, that she was pregnant and they were obviously trying to hide it.

Her best movie, though, was the Abel Ferrer movie with Harvey Keitel. I'm too lazy to look for the title right now, but she was really good in that movie and no one ever talks about it. And it got really good reviews when it came out. But by then I think the public had given up on her as an actress.

33. I guess my big problem with "Evita" is that I'm not an Andrew Lloyd Webber fan.
My then roommate rented the video and I watched it...and sure enough, it met my expectations.

I think I know the Abel Ferrer film you're talking about...wasn't it a courtroom drama? I'm kind of lazy to go to IMDB...but I think that's the one you're referring to. I didn't see it.

34. The courtroom drama was that shiteous S&M romp she had with Willem Dafoe.
The Abel Ferrer one was a movie within a movie, with Keitel playing Ferrer. Madonna gets stoned in the movie and it's a pretty funny scene.

I have the MST3k episode on my PC, I think. Maybe I'll watch it tonight instead of the Cops marathon...

Oh, and Attack of the Eye Creatures was terrible, as was Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.

In Eye Creatures they filmed all of the night scenes in broad daylight and just put a heavy filter on the camera. I didn't know that cars back then used votive candles in the headlamps! And not all of the Eye Creatures had, apparently, lower halves. :banghead:

35. Runaway Car
Its a TV movie so i don't know if it counts but it does have judge reinhold and it is jaw-droppingly bad.

You can guess the plot from the title, its a bit like Speed only less cerebral and with no budget. the user comments on imdb say it all:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120041/usercomments

so if you ever see it in the tv listings make sure you set the tivo.

Battlefield Earth is really crappy too, of course.

50. The Vanilla Ice musical, "Cool as Ice"
Exhibit A:

It's not what you say, It's how you say it. Give me a microphone. On stage, I'll display it. Playing me right and you'll get played out. Like Polka dots and people will shout. Dirty words cause you're a nerd, I'm first, you're third, it's absurd to think that you heard better rhymes than these, I'm bringing sucker MC's down to their knees. Tease your thoughts like a feather to a toe. Although the beat seems slow, my groove will still flow. My rhymes are soulful art that makes your heart dance. Melodic tones move your mind to a quick trance. Everytime I rhyme I find the audience is mine, caught by every line. Sparkle like a gem with my golden voice.

Exhibit B:

93. Pulp Fiction is considered a classic but I thought the whole
movie was gratuitous sickass violence from about the first minute. Purple Rain? Prince is no -talent, IMHO, and he slaps his girlfriend because he think she went out with someone else. Like he owned her and he treated her like a piece of meat. A truly lousy sexist movie about a guy who is full of himself.

it was so bad they had trouble thinking of good commentary for it.
it was so bad that several cast members committed suicide after its premiere.
quite possibly the worst movie ever made.
space mutiny sucked hard, though.

Star Trek V had money and talent behind it, and still it was absolutely horrid. More horrible to me for other reasons.

82. One Word: Torque...
Now let me kibbitz the thread...

Gigli: Close but no cigar, just another thing that happens when hubby and wife try to make a movie.

Mortal Kombat: C'mon. If you're going to pick a video game derivative, don't you think that Street Fighter with Jean Claude would have been a better pick?

Health Inspector: Woo. Never saw this one, and I'm a B-movie afficionado. I must check out this paean to mediocrity.

Death to Smoochy: It was ok. Not great, wasn't going to light the world on fire, granted, but it was OK.

Donkey Balls: Is this a movie or a clever retort?

Can't Stop the Music: Yeah, this sucked, but I remember it having redeeming qualities. I can't think of any right off the top of my head... but give me a minute.

End of the Spear: OK, if I didn't see it, it doesn't suck yet.

Showgirls: Awful, but appealed to prurient interest.

Love Chronicles: Um, why do people insist on watching this shit? You can tell it sucks from the TITLE.

Cannon Ball Run I and II: Oh, come on. Cameos aplenty and the extent of Jamie Farr's career. It was lame but in a funny way.

Nacho Libre: "Sometimes men wear stretchy pants. Is for fun." For that line ALONE, it has more redemption than Torque.

The Final Sacrifice: Again, WTF, where do you find these?

Manos: Hands of Fate: Translated: Hands: Hands of Fate. OK, you might have me beat here.

Don't forget Shanghai Surprise and Swept Away: Good. But not bad enough. Bzzzt!

Highlander II: Oh, c'mon, you didn't like the whole rewrite of the canon from the first? It was so pathetic, that I had to see where it went. No points there.

Freddy Got Fingered: "Daddy, would you like some sausages, Daddy would you like some sausages..."... absurdism at its finest. Bzzzt.

Plan 9 from Outer Space: Cult classics are not permissible as "awful". They TRANSCEND awful.

Tron: You loved it. You know you loved it. I see you looking away, who are you kidding?

Three Amigos: I hated it, but we're talking the worst here. I have an abiding respect for complete abject failure... this doesn't qualify.

End of Days: Almost. No cigar. Close though. You are on the right track.

Runaway Car: Oh, come on. Wasn't "The Car" worse?

Legends of the Fall: Sounds awful. Might be awful. That's two I need to check out.

Dude, Where's My Car?: Sophomoric humor is always welcome. No points for you.

American Beauty: Are you fucking insane? This ROCKED! A story told in retrospect from a corpse. Brilliant.

Moulin Rouge: Pretty bad, but Nicole Kidman and Ewan MacGregor CAN sing...

Star Trek: Nemesis: Bad story, cool ending. No points there.

Drop Dead Fred: I have to admit, I liked it. Of course, I've been a fan of Phoebe Cates ever since Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off: You have no soul. How dare you.

True Lies: Worth the price of admission for Jamie Lee Curtis.

Lord of the Rings: What precisely do you have against Hobbits? OK, Hobbits are pretty lame.

Plan 9 From Outer Space: Didn't we already cover this?

Cool as Ice: Congratulations, you are the top contender.

Ishtar: Sucky. But just not THAT sucky.

Last Exit to Brooklyn: Damn, three I have to see now.

Glitter: Pop stars are EXPECTED to have lame fodder, you can't count this.

Pulp Fiction: You've got to be kidding.

Purple Rain: Great soundtrack. No points there.

South of Heaven, West of Hell.: FOUR. FUCK!

Bedazzled: Elizabeth Hurley. Think on it for a second.

Pluto Nash: This is another one of those, so bad its good movies. Besides, I've always had a thing for Rosario Dawson.

Dragon Ball Z Movie 11: Who put this up? Are you seeking a psychiatrist? Star Blazers: Quest for Iscandar is MUCH better.

Edited on Sun Jan-21-07 09:01 PM by Okiojira
Hoo boy, talk about awful! Definitely one of those so-bad-it's-good flicks. Misogynistic, homophobic, bizarro take on transvestism (Wood was fond of dressing up in women's clothing). The final third of the movie features this completely disjointed, pointless montage of burlesque/striptease acts, I can only assume meant to represent some sort of hellish personal journey for Glen/Glenda, the film's, uh...protagonist. Hilariously baffling!

The "message" of the movie seems to be thus: homosexuality - bad. Transvestism - perfectly wholesome form of self-expression for red-blooded, all-American white males everywhere.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079946

It is literally hard to believe how bad this movie is without seeing it. The script literally sounded like it had been written on a drunken bender over a weekend. Here's an example:

L, the police robot, gets shot in the movie and fries. Later he comes back.

Stella Starr: L, they fixed you! how did they do it?

L: Very carefully!

Seriously, that was in the movie.

115. I've never seen Manos - just part of the MST workover
However...

For blatantly stupid set design, Starcrash wins hands down. In the 1st minute of the movie (this is the truth!) there is a scene on a spaceship with a guy who walks down a hallway towards the camera into this rotating room. The room then rotates until it lines up with another hallway. In other words, this is on a spaceship with no corners in the hallways. they put in rotating booth-type things so that you have to stand for 30 seconds before you can turn a corner, rather than just putting in a corner.

Then, when he leaves the rotating booth, he walks down the hallway to an elevator, pushes a button, the door opens - and there's stairs inside.

Seriously.

waterworld was bad, very bad, but the postman almost made me hate dances with wolves. it was so bad that it started to suck out accolade points from other movies that starred the actors. though i do admit the tom petty cameo was just so over the top it brightened the endless droll. but still, dances with wolves now has a shadow cast upon it with me because of how bad the postman was. can't look at costner without painful flashbacks.

186. "The Postman" is a very strange movie
Admittedly, I did like parts of it. I honestly feel that this had the potential to actually be a decent movie.

What killed it was the length. They could easily have chopped about five or six hours out of the ten-hour length and made it pretty lean.

Costner must have written much of this, because the whole thing reeks a bit too much of 'ego trip'. I rolled my eyes when that woman who was dancing with him asked him to impregnate her. Come on!

The Tom Petty cameo was pretty cool, but Costner ruined it with his "Hey, you used to be famous" line.

The U.S. capitol moved to the Metrodome in Minneapolis? Oh, Puh-leeze! Having been in 'the Hump' more times than I wish to remember, no way in hell can that thing stay up without electricity, which there seemed to be none of anywhere at that point. Costner could have come up with a better lie than that!

And a big-ass statue dedicated to him at the end? At this point, I felt like I just watched Costner jerk off for three hours.

All in all, I can't figure out if I detested this movie or enjoyed it. I've always been a sucker for post-apocalyptic flicks, and the bad guy was pretty good (Will Patton?). He was also in another Costner flick, the excellent "No Way Out". I also liked the genre-melding of sci-fi and western. And the scenery was beautiful and absorbing. The movie utilized it well.

So yes, there were flaws-a-plenty in this one, and I can't really fault anyone for hating it, but for some reason, I actually felt that with some generous editing, this could have been a fairly decent flick. Not great, but a somewhat engaging post-apocalyptic yarn.

Dammit, I loved that movie. Yes, it was horrible. But in a brilliant way. It tried to mimmic a really bad cartoon, so it was supposed to be bad.

Compare that to "Sin City," for instance. "Sin City" was bad without having any redeeming charm. "Popeye" at least had... Well... I don't know, you're probably right. It sucked. Forget I said anything.

That's like looking at a Van Gogh painting and saying "But it doesn't really look like a face."

And sadly, you're wrong about the guys who made it never doing anything since. Heather Donahue was in "Boys and Girls." Despite the fact that the film was bad in every way possible, she still managed to stand out as more horrible than the rest.

Joshua Leonard, interestingly, has done 37 films, according to IMDB. Aside from a few TV episodes and a bad Disney film, I've never heard of any of them. But he's worked, at least.
