Did you have a good new year?

People keep asking me if I had a good new year. How the heck should I know, I'm less than 5/365ths of the way through it!! Ask me in December, I'll have a better feel as to whether or not I've had a good new year. It will have lost its newness by then but the election will be out of the way and we'll know more about the future state of hockey by then.

2. it's already way better than 2003

five days in and I haven't been laid off yet!

In 2001, I knew I'd be laid off by now.

In 2002, I had no job.

In 2003, I again knew I'd be laid off soon.
