She just called me and said that her asshole boss fired her for "underperforming". She apparently never took lunches and did all of the so called heavy lifting, but after she left early for the day with the flu, she got a call around 6:30 saying that it "just wasn't working out"...after four years:shrug:. I overheard after I left her office for lunch about a month ago, the asshole employer saying something about he is "never wrong and not to question him". Wow.

I am telling her that she can do much better. She has suffered so much under this employer...It is a company with 2 employees and some mornings she comes to work to find hard core porn on her internet history because the employer has some weird fetishes. She told me that she was going to give her notice tomorrow, but I can't believe that this person would be enough of an asshole to do it over the phone. Probably while jacking off to foot fetish porn.

She is worried what he will say to others about her. God...he trash talks his mother, Lauren, he is nuts and you are lucky to be out of there!

mine isn't nearly that bad- I have a new asshole manager who hates me and wants to get rid of me even though I have a wonderful supervisor and I love the job. But its a big world and there are a lot of jobs. Sometimes you get stuck and let someone make you feel really bad about yourself, just like in a relationship. Then its time to move on.

Today I went to see a counselor through the Employee Assistance Program... they asked me a million questions like- is someone abusing you, is there abuse at home, are you a substance abuser, is there substance abuse at home... no to all... I have only one problem, that my manager is an ASSHOLE. So my solution is a lot easier than for some other people. I just have to go away.

I once worked for a company that laid off an entire department via voice mail. It was a customer service department and when they came in they all had voice mails saying the department was no longer needed as those jobs were being moved out of St Louis.

12. My old boss called a coworker on Christmas Eve, from his vacation in Jamaica,

to fire her. Talk about a slap in the face. Can you even imagine being on vacation and even thinking "Hmm...I should fire Jane. In fact, I'll do it right now!" much less actually going through with it? And never once stopping to think that it's cruel, heartless, rude and disrespectful to do it how and when he did it?

The woman he fired wasn't the greatest at her job but she wasn't doing anything criminal or costly. She was just kinda slow. It's not like there was any danger of her bringing the company to its knees or embezzling $50,000 if he had waited until after the holiday. Nor would it have cost him much money, considering how badly he paid people. I think one day on that vacation of his cost more than a week's salary for that poor woman.

I should add that this woman was a childhood friend of my boss. She had moved to Chicago and needed a job so he gave her a low-level admin assistant position to help her out. So instead of telling her it wasn't working out and that she needed to find something else (you know, like a friend would do), he just cut her loose. I'm guessing she was no longer his friend after that.

Of course, he fired me because I balked at working major overtime a month before my wedding. There was no real pressing need for me to work the overtime, he just wanted to be able to snap his fingers and have me come running whenever he wanted to get his ass to work (not usually until 2 in the afternoon). So he was generally an overall fuckhead.

Anyway, I'm sorry for your friend. But for me, getting fired from that hellhole was AWESOME. Not that I have the best job in the world right now, but at least I don't spend my entire evening commute crying about how much I hate my job, like I did when I worked for Maya Romanoff.
