Our library has a "Money Tree" in the children's section where kids can contribute.
It's a tacky 1/2 gallon mayo jar with a slot cut in the top and a tree painted on the side.
The money is used for summer puppet shows.
I'm the treasurer for our Friends of the Library group, so I get to count & roll the change when it's time.
Screw this!
We're getting one of these:
And...we could bolt the thing down so it doesn't 'walk away' (like happened in broad daylight at a nearby town library recently), PLUS the kids get to turn the crank and watch the coins magically sort themselves. We might even get more in donations since there's something to 'do' and see when you drop your coins in. I'd probably throw in my change just so I could turn the crank and watch.
;-)
P.S. Did you know a Susan B. Anthony dollar will 'almost' fit in a roll of quarters?
