1. Did you hear their recent Xmas album?
They should have been forced to drink poison after they recorded "O, Come All Ye Faithful" to the tune of "We're Not Gonna Take It." I saw them on Leno or Conan performing it. It was just beyond awful.

6. Twisted Sister was the first concert I ever went to
Lita Ford opened for co-headliners Ratt & Twisted Sister... it was at the old Agora Ballroom in West Hartford, CT. (I saw Metallica there twice before they became headliners. Also, Queensryche and many other up & coming heavy metal bands) It was either the summer of '83 or '84.

Years later (2000 or 2001) I saw Dee Snider & family in a restaurant I was working in at the time - wife and 3 kids. He sat in a chair at the end of a booth for 3 people - it was quite a site with this big shaggy haired guy sitting at the end of a booth. Supposedly was a nice guy while there.

11. Curse not bands for cashing in their old hits as though they they were 401ks.
My daughter saw an episode of Lizzy Maguire with Stevie Tyler as a guest star. I had to explain how he was, so I let her listen to "Dream On," and "Sweet Emotion," and even some of his later stuff. Within a few months, without my guidance, she had declared Hillary Duff a child actor with minimal talent, and had begun exploring the world of rock and roll. Today, her screen saver is a montage she created from rock logos, ranging from the Rolling Stone lips to an album cover from My Chemical Romance, and including Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, and Led Zepplin. At thirteen, she is failing school but can give you the history of rock and roll from Elvis to the Fray.

So I owe Little Stevie a debt for selling out, and perking my kid's interest, nay, obsession in music. This former writer of a high school paper rock column tips his hat (I would lift a toast, but Stevie's not supposed to drink, you know) to the old greats who strategically scatter their greatest achievements across the advertising universe.

She heard the Twisted Sister song from that commercial, and thought it was pretty good, but not great. She did like the defiant message though. I applaud her for that, though I will no doubt regret it in a couple of years.

15. I Will Always Have One Particularly Fond Memory
of Twisted Sister. I was attending a Christan school living alone in a very small two bedroom school owned apartment for the first time. I was enjoying my freedom. Mid-term I was assigned a new roommate. She was old enough to be my mother. She was not a traditional student - although I think she may have been enrolled in some kind of religious studies program. She also worked as a "prayed partner" at the now long defunct Oral Roberts City of Faith Hospital. The woman lived with me for about four to six weeks as I recall and she was difficult. The bedrooms were on opposite ends of the apartment with a small den separating them. I had evening classes Monday through Friday and it was not uncommon for me to stay up late at night sitting on the couch reading quietly without any kind of music or tv on in the background. This seemed to disturb her to no end. Apparently, she could not figure out how to close her bedroom door to block out the light that disturbed her sleep. Either that or she thought I should adapt to her routine. Punk was big at the time and one of the guys in school was really into it. He sometimes had punk parties where he would do disgusting things like serve red jello with small plastic dolls embedded throughout. He had a sizable collection of punk music - including the Twisted Sister "We're Not Gonna Take It" album. I borrowed a lot of his collection and played it in my room in the apartment at a reasonable to subdued volume (the leasing office was just across the walkway or I might have turned the volume way up). I would sometimes leave the album covers lying on the coffee table in the den. Prayer partner woman went ballistic when she saw the Twisted Sister album cover. A couple of days later I came home about an hour and a half early from my evening class to find prayer partner woman carrying the last of her stuff from the apartment. She never told me where she was going. And she never came back to pay her portion of the utilities. There was a sizable phone bill attributable to her - so I did get the pleasure of hunting her down and asking why the hell she had skipped out without paying her bills. She did pay the long distance charges - but nothing else.

Are you sure there are no tickets left? Must be a pretty small concert hall.
