Making cake: Orange layer, white frosting, green layer
Gonna call it Paddy Cake

It'll go great with the green champagne!

1. heh - good idea
we always seem to have strawberries and poundcake with whipped cream for our Paddy's day desert - and I like the idea of green champagne!

2. Next year I make a three layer cake
Orange layer with orange zest and a touch of allspice
White layer
An applesauce layer tinted green

And if the weather is fair, you can have it outdoors with Patty O'Furniture.

3. *lol* Clever! My daughter made Red Velvet cupcakes today but used
green food coloring instead of red, and then tinted some cream cheese frosting in the appropriate colors to do flags, shamrocks, harps, Celtic curlicues, and more on top of the wee little darlin's...

8. Really well! They are a very deep mossy green/brown, with the cocoa and
all, but they look really good and they taste amazing and they turned out very well.
I've eaten too many already today!
I am a sucker for sweets, particularly cake or anything with chocolate, so when they're combined, I'm toast.

11. My clan LOVES Red Velvet Cake. Was thinking a few weeks ago...
hmm, why not GREEN velvet? But I was out of buttermilk & cocoa.

Does the green coloring give everyone the shakes? I have to giggle at the effect the red has. After serving that cake up to a group, I understand why many doctors recommend anyone with difficult children not ever serve them anything with artificial coloring! That stuff has buzzed grown men over 220 pounds! (I know a few particularly LARGE leprechauns)

13. *lol* The green doesn't seem to have quite the same effect, nor does it
have quite as strong a flavor, I don't think. But maybe that's just me. I thought they turned out scrumptious!
