Stewart even mentioned the fact that people elevate him to some kind of general as the very reason he doesn't play to the audience. if you like what he says, great, if not, he doesn't care.

6. I haven't seen that episode of the show but

it's really disappointing how people cling to celebrity to be their spokesperson/general. Jon is doing a wonderful job of entertainment and to a lesser extent political commentary and I put entertainment first because he will and should poke fun at anything no matter from what political faction the source material comes from. But for people to get pissed at one specific incident or joke because he's not living up to their ideal is just ridiculous and evidence of how people have stopped relying on themselves and keep looking for a 'savior' to lead us out of the trouble we (as a nation) have put ourselves into.
