Good vibes needed NOW! Husband is operating on my (Radio_Lady's) dead computer...
Edited on Sat Apr-07-07 10:04 PM by Radio_Lady
Crap. Left the machine on during dinner; came back and the whole system was KAPUT! Wouldn't restart; couldn't run diagnostics on the machine.

He put in a new CPU board a few months ago. He is now on the floor with the guts of my computer around him, flashlight in hand, swapping out the new CPU for the older one.

Shit. This is NOT how I wanted to spend Saturday night!

When I start to pray, it's really a bad sign...

5. I'm doing everything that anyone is asking of me. "Hold the flashlight steadily...!" is the most...
immediate command.

Over and out.

6. Old CPU seems to be working, at least nominally. I see my desktop!
Technology is voodoo to me.

"Now what, master???"

8. My dear Radio_Lady!
Perhaps it's time to consider getting a new computer?

I recently bought a Windows XP ........

And I love it!

Runs like a gazelle.......no problems whatsoever...

:hi:

9. Hi Peggy! I leave all of these decisions to my software guzzling husband.

I'm chugging along with Windows XP Home Edition on an upgraded Pentium III.

When it's working, it's fine. The CPU card my husband bought on the Internet (for about $20.00) and installed a few months ago was supposed to make things go faster. It just croaked without ceremony today. No big deal.

I just feel way out of control until the "computer doctor" suits up and starts his work. If anything happens to hubby, I'll have to go back to pen and paper!

In peace,

Radio Lady

10. I had major bad computer mojo in February
with TWO laptops crapping out on me. In retrospect, those were the halcyon days before I learned I had a suspicious breast lump.

Anyway, good vibes for your 'pooter.

11. Did you get the breast lump diagnosed? I hope it was nothing serious.
In peace,

Radio Lady

PS. Computer keeps chugging along with the older CPU card in place. Frankly, I can't tell the difference.

12. Biopsy tomorrow.
But based on the mammography findings, it doesn't seem promising.

Better to know for sure -- and not wait too long.
