I can't sleep (again)
I seem to post this often. Tonight it's weird stuff going through my mind and the fact that I can't find a comfortable position to sleep in. I injured my shoulder somehow (I am guessing it happened when lifting weights, although I use the machines, not free weights). Normally I sleep on my stomach and put my arm under the pillow, but I can't do that because it hurts too much. I suppose I need to go see a doctor about this and get an x-ray or whatever but I really don't want to. I am hoping that not lifting weights for a while will help.

1. Do you do a lot of lifting?
You gotta make sure you watch your form, and don't over stress your joints. I had problems sleeping a couple of nights back....I did too many heavy squats (I'm one of those guys that hates working legs, but I'm starting to do them again) and boy was I sore. Just couldn't get comfortable.

3. Not really a lot
And I don't do free weights, just the machines. But I guess I probably did something wrong at some point. Or it could have happened at work. My job is kind of physical. I just don't remember anything specific.

4. Sorry to dredge this back up but....DO FREE WEIGHTS.
Machines, unless its for certain excercises (tricep pulldowns, some back excercises, and some shoulder excercises) are a waste of time, and in the long run cause more injuries. Free weights let you work a better range of motion, a natural range. That means that you work out muscles you wouldn't other wise...rotator muscles, etc. With correct form, you'll see gains WAY faster than with the machines. Dumbells and barbells are your friends....if you really wanna make muscle fast, concentrate on compound excercises with free weights.

Oh yeah, and don't forget to eat.

5. well I am only trying to stay in shape and lose weight
not really build muscle per se. I don't need six-pack abs for example.

I am scared of free weights. Too dangerous and I have no one to spot me anyway.

2. I'm awake, too. No physical pain. Just.....can't sleep.
It's always so...dark...this time of the morning.
