My 15 yo son made me a gift in art class!
I knew there was still a sweet little boy hiding somewhere inside that 6'2" frame.

8. The gifts I receive
from my kids, especially the handmade ones, are the best gifts in the world to me. I keep a box where I save "love notes" from my children. Those little "I love you" notes and apologizes, even. The handwriting changes over the years - the love is constant.

5. Yep, I think it's a wizard
could be a gnome. He's never sculpted clay in his life. It's not an easy medium. (Clay can be a real disaster - I used to teach children's art.)

He draws like nobody's business, though. But he hasn't been willing to try anything new outside of his comfort zone until now. I was really impressed that he made the effort and did so well. He may want to experiment a little more with clay and other mediums after this success.

My son is so smart and talented but doesn't know it it. He has dyslexia and ADHD. His self esteem took a real beating during elementary school when he wasn't able to keep up with his peers. I'm so pleased that things are looking up for him. :)

(Hey, Southpawkicker, take a look up...next to my username. What do you see? A pretty impressive 1,000+ posts, eh? )

(p.s. I slept like a baby after that marathon. Thanks again for all your help! :yourock: Who's the coolest DUer of all time?)

10. And growing...
He looks like a puppy, still. You know, that haven't-grown-into-the-feet-yet clumsy look? He misjudges doorways and runs right into them. I hope he stops growing before too long. He father is 6'3" so I expect it should be soon. I hope.

12. I remember that phase
but that was with a 5'11'' frame. Just so you know, boys have been known to grow until they are in their early twenties.

14. You have got to be kidding?
Early twenties? :scared: I hope that will not be the case with my son.

Tall is good, to a point. But when doorway openings become too low... I've watched him, trying to adjust to his height, hurting himself because he grew too tall too quickly. It's been funny at times but I'm beginning to feel sorry for him. He doesn't fit into the back seats of my car. The front, with the seat positioned as far back as it will go still doesn't accommodate his long legs.

And he doesn't even play basketball.

13. Very cool!
One of my dearest treasures is a pillow my son made for me in school when he was 12 or 13. There's something about a teenage boy showing his mom he loves her that makes my heart just melt. :loveya:
