2. But but she's a Librarian
She can read the words in the books, not just look at the pictures. I thought that's how they got together.

3. You'd think a librarian would be attracted to a guy who could read.
Why knew?

13. She was a librarian...
for about three years back in the 1970's and she's been riding that pony every since. She's a vodka and prozac-addled Stepford Wife who married above herself socially and beneath herself morally. Her one accomplishment in life other than vehicular homicide was to reproduce two equally chemically-dependent offspring.

In short, she and George were made for each other.

6. No dumb guys for me. They run away when I open my mouth.
Techies who are musicians rock!

That's what fits my "offender profile".

7. Anything at or over 110 is fine by my.
Mind you, that cuts out, what 84% odd of the population, but I only need to meet one woman, so 14% is well enough for me.

Look, to put honesty above humility, that is a reasonably large gap. Of course, saying that makes me sound like an arsehole. Eh.

8. so you prescreen candidates for IQ with tests before
Edited on Tue Apr-17-07 06:01 AM by turtlensue
you go out with them? That could make things awkward don't ya think:rofl:
My qualifications are at least as smart as me, smarter than me even is great. I usually can tell by having an intellectual debate with someone, anyone who answers a point with huh? Is probably not a candidate:)
R_A: don't worry about sounding like an arsehole. I know I am an "arrogant, self-centered egotistical so and so"-a direct quote from my former Aussie boss on himself and many ex-colleagues thought we were joined at the hip in terms of attitude...
on edit: correcting a Freudian slip in forgetting to enter former boss.

10. Your Aussie himself?
 That WAS some Freudian slip, alright.

Anyway, I was only referring to an ideal test, so it is not possible to actually screen people.

All I mean is, I'd go for anything much upside of normal. In all honesty, I've not much idea exactly how smart or otherwise a 100 would be, so I was taking a flying leaping stabbing guess.

It's mainly from that old empathy/intelligence correlation anyway. :) ;)

11. They have to be more intelligent than I am.
That's my "thing" I guess. I'm no slouch in the IQ dept, but more intelligent women turn me on.

Every woman I ever fell hard for has been VERY intelligent, usually with post graduate degrees and are great debaters. I still remember the first time I figured this out. Dating a pre-med girl in college, we'd been debating some point and she managed to turn most of my arguments around in such a logical way that I was left speechless and more turned on than ever. :)

I've dated one girl who could have been a playboy supermodel, but she was dumb as a post. Get this...she used the light coming from my cars digital clock to try and read her watch to see what time it was! Anyway, as beautiful as she was, I never felt anything much for her and the sex was more "going through the motions" vs. being really turned on.

So, I have zero tolerance for an IQ difference lower than mine. Unlimited tolerance for an IQ difference higher than mine.

12. Same here.
I couldn't fall in love with someone who wasn't smarter than me in some way. Do we have to be smart in the same ways? No. But he better be smarter than me in at least one other important area of life, otherwise, well, it would be difficult for me to be totally satisfied.

14. I seem to run in the "30-point" area
My ex-husband was probably 30 points below me (somewherebetween 100 and 110)...

Oktoberain is easily 30 points above!

16. Depends on how nice the rear-view is.
:o

I kid, I kid.

I don't mind being with a person with a different kind of intelligence, but downright stupidity is intolerable to me. If I couldn't have a thoughtful discussion with my SO, I would be bored out of my mind.

17. I could date a dumb guy but a relationship would require a high IQ.
Which as a newly singled fairly smart woman is a scarey prospect.

My ex is very smart and very engaging, we would talk about anything and everything. It will be hard to find that again.

I have 'dumbed down' in order to date in the past and am not that keen to go there again.

18. My partner is the greatest.
Because he's much, much smarter than me. I know his IQ is very high. And he doesn't mind the IQ discrepancy. :-)

19. Interesting...
I have a very-high IQ...I'm not going to date many people even ballpark. It's become less important. I can't date someone with a low cultural IQ though.

You've got to know your culture: art, music, books, film, tv, etc.
