Interesting at lunch today

At a meeting of the service club I belong to. Nobody was talking about Virginia Tech, nor was it mentioned in the prayer. It's like it never happened, or was no big deal. Now when I think about it conversation there are almost never about current events, unless the weather counts, and the war sometimes gets mentioned. Either the group is not interested in politics or we stay off of subjects we might argue about. Anybody else notice this at work or in social settings?
