Why do they let obnoxious adults eat in fine restaurants?
Mr. B and I don't go on date nights very often.

I love to cook..and my family enjoys most foods so I prefer to stay at home..

However my niece offered to baby sit and we couldn't turn that down.

So we go out to a pricey restaurant in a "hip" part of town...and soon after we were seated, a couple is seated at the table next to ours...and then proceeded to have a very loud conversation and at points the guy was verbally berating his date...

Now this is the second time we have had this happen and to be honest I would have much preferred a cute baby with pudding all over his face and a few squeals to this couples obnoxious behavior.

I don't want to hear someone's loud bragging..
I don't want to hear their fighting...or whining..

I would much prefer it if they would just keep their voice to a level that only the two of them can hear it...

Hell the people at the table on the other side of us, kept looking over at this couple because it was even annoying them...

1. Thats when you ask to be seated at a different table
and make sure the waiter and manager know why.

2. in both cases these restaurants were booked and in the most recent case
the guy was so obnoxious that my husband and I both knew that he might just make a scene.

7. personally, I'd let him make a scene

and then I'd let the manager know that they had just lost my business, permanently.

but thats just me. I go to a fine restaurant for a fine experience. And if some ass wants to ruin that experience and the management wont do anything about it, they obviously dont want my business.

3. Most "adults" are crass, boorish assholes
Going to resturants--even the nice ones!-- of late has made me ill with the way people conduct themslves.

No manners, poor grooming, poor table manners...jesus.

4. I really hate cell phones in those settings as well...
I once saw one young woman sit silently while her date was babbling to a friend on the phone....boy how classy.

The guy at the last restaurant asked for the "house red"...and then loudly told the waiter..."and I don't want it served in one of those little wine glasses...I want it in one of those goblets reserved for the $500 wines...and i want it full!!!"

8. Ah yes. Nothing like an adult temper tantrum.
:eyes:

I work at a coffee bar/deli for my work study job. It's made me the most polite person in the world after I've had to deal with spoiled trust fund babies.

5. i do say, they quite often let the vulgar live beyond their means and station
the missus and i were enjoying the table d'hote at one of our finer dining establishments (7 courses, starting with some fine turtle soup and ending with an invigorating madeira), and some ruffians were using their salad forks to eat their tournedos de boeuf! shame!

6. I think that "fine" establishments should use cell phone jammers
Edited on Mon Apr-23-07 04:42 PM by NightWatcher
They actually make these devices that will jam cell phones. Some theaters have thought about getting them. If I knew that a place had a cell phone jammer, I'd throw them my business.

9. How much for the little girl? How much for the women?

Your women. I want to buy your women. The little girl, your daughters... sell them to me. Sell me your children.
