Post your ideas for what I should get my secretary for secretary day
It's tomorrow, and it has snuck up on me.

She's fantastic - a truly super secretary - and in the last three months she's gone through hell with an amazingly busy schedule that I foisted on her (because I foisted an equally insane schedule on myself) and twice or more what she normally is expected to do. That busy-ness is now done, so secretary day comes at an opportune time.

I want to give her somethin' bitchin' and cool, but not overly pricey. Normally I just give her wine, so I was thinking some higher quality wine this time.

Any thoughts?

Kidding.

Dunno what kind of wine she likes, but I'd get her two or three bottles of zin (or cab or another bordeaux varietal) from different appellations. I'd go with Rosenblum or Geyser Peak, because 1. they're outstanding, 2. they're in your price range, and 3. it's a fun little lesson in terroir, especially as you can "taste" that coming from a single winemaker.

6. How about a different title?
Maybe, Administrative Assistant? And a week off - PAID - am sure you'll survive :)

7. She's a secretary, so that title stays.
I hated the term "Administrative Assistant" when I was a secretary; it's so "sensitive".

I was a secretary, and I was happy and proud to have been one. So is she.

As to paid time off - that *would* be good. She doesn't actually get paid vacation. She's on flex time, so she can take whenever she wants and it fits my schedule, but I do hope this year to get her up to some kind of paid vacation.

I gave her a day off with pay before for secretary's day, but since it doesn't actually cost me anything, I don't want to do that again - I want to do something that will actually come from my pocket.

16. I know it sounds corny, but as a secretary I always thought it was
cool when my boss had flowers delivered to my desk. Some of the other suggestions here are pretty good, too, especially the dinner or the spa visit.

17. I would get her a Visa Gift Card or an Amex one.
People love gift cards. And, maybe a nice personal note on how important she is to you as your assistant.
