Woman Dies When She Is Thrown From Motorcycle & Hit By Passing Ambulance

Canterbury — A Canterbury woman was killed Thursday on Route 169 after being ejected from a motorcycle and struck by a passing ambulance.
Lisa Spino, 39, was a passenger on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by Marc Grab of Canterbury. They were traveling north on Route 169.

Police said Grab was following too closely and hit a vehicle that had pulled to the side of the road to allow emergency vehicles to pass.

Police said Spine was thrown off the motorcycle, landed in the southbound lane of Route 169 and was hit by a town ambulance, which was responding to an unrelated emergency call.

Spino was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
