Reading Material at the Family Planning Clinic
Was just at Planned Parenthood for the last 3 hours here in Houston, Texas (on a family-related, prevention matter).

Sheesh, my clinic had a very poor selection of magazines in the waiting room.

As I am sure is the case with most PP clinics, this one relies on magazine donations from clinic supporters. But this was definitely not a "Better Homes & Gardens," "Gourmet," or "Family Circle" crowd, which seemed to be most or all of what was available. Not a whole lot of relevant reading material there to keep the younger folks (or many of their parents) occupied while waiting around.

When I got back to the office, I went onto E-Bay and ordered up several long-term magazine subscriptions for four of my Houston-area clinics. Some of those E-Bay subscriptions are cheap to the point of being unbelievable! Did you know that you can get a THREE year subscription to "Latina" magazine for 88 CENTS-- no shipping?!? I ordered up some women's health and fitness, Seventeen, Newsweek ($12 for a YEAR subscription,) and others...

I do send PP a check every year, but it was fun to do a little bit extra for the clients sitting in the waiting room.

Just thought I would mention it in case anyone else had a spare $.88 and wanted to do a good deed.

Or in case anyone had piles of good magazines they wanted to drop off at a family planning clinic instead of tossing them out. (Cut your name and address off the cover if you do.)
