I wasn't in. Owners trying to prove their d*cks were bigger than a former employee and they tried witholding $$ from him that he had earned.

He confronted them about it. Cops called. Screaming, throwing of furniture, etc...

Lasted about 30 minutes. After all was said and done, owner calls the guy (he had left) and told him they were sending him his check. After all that.

This is an OFFICE. Supposedly professional. In reality it is a high school locker room and run as such. I'm responsible for HR around here (as well as everything else). My first question to the owner was if anything has been said to the sales staff (assuming the mostly female staff are probably upset).

"F*ck 'em. They are fine. This didn't concern them." :eyes:

I'll be shocked if anyone even shows up today.

Oh my life is PEACHY these days.

3. Oh, that's terrible!
Reminds me of my workplace during the Election 2000 recount. It was fuckin' scary!

And it was the bush supporters that were threatening physical assault.

4. A fistfight with cops called and he's not saying anything about it to the rest of the staff?
By not addressing it the owner is conveying the message that this is how he will respond to any employee who dares to challenge him. The smart ones spent last night polishing their resumes.

owed me over 2 grand and wouldn't cough it up. The fight didn't last 30 minutes though, not even 30 seconds

10. Time to have a "Come to Jesus talk" with your boss Matcom
When he calms down let him know (since you are head of HR) there will most likely be serious repercussions from the staff; his most valuable asset.

That is an impossible situation to be in and I hope that you can reason with him and create a new policy where you can be the go between from now on. Yikes what a mess.

No wonder you had such a "swell" day yesterday.

18. When I was 16 I punched out my boss...
He grabbed me by the arm after a 12 hour day and tried to prevent me from leaving... I was in high school for god's sake, I need to go do homework. When he got physical I popped him once, he let go as he fell, I stood over him and informed him I quit.

He refused to give me my last paycheck.

So my dad drove me back into work and told my ex-boss that he had 2 choices. He could give me the check or he could be shut in his office with me with the door closed until one of us walked out with the check.

He chose to suddenly remember the check was in his desk drawer.

:D

20. I once witnessed a fight between two newspaper critics....
...over a record album, right in the middle of the features department. Quite embarrassing to watch, but there was really no graceful or easy exit for any of us. Our boss actually went and hid out in his office.
