Celebratory alcohol!
Edited on Wed Jun-06-07 05:19 PM by oktoberain
As one of the newest college students in the USA, I am celebrating tonight with an excessive amount of Bacardi 151 and Coca-Cola. Obviously I have only had one drink at this point, because otherwise I would not be able to type!

Come, have a drink and celebrate with me! I am the first person in my *entire* family (on both sides!) to graduate high school, much less go to college!

p.s. Help me avoid drunk-dialing! Keep me busy tonight :) PM me for my phone #--I'd love to talk to fellow Lounge denizens :D

1. um -
how old are you, first?

Wouldn't want to "contribute to the deliquency of a minor"!

Congrats on the college thing, though!!

5. But... but...
I don't drink anymore.

Guess that means I don't get to come to your kegger parties in the dorm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, either.

8. You are always welcome at my parties!
No keggers for me--I don't like beer. :D

Oh, and I'm planning on transferring to Berkeley (Cal) in 2 years--gotta get 60 transfer credits first. When I get there, I'm hoping we can meet in person... :loveya:

Still, there is the Big Game, in which Cal and Stanford play nekkid. :woohoo:

11. Well, it's more Liberal than WVU!
I talked to the Admissions folks today. I could have gotten in as a Freshman right now, but I didn;t get my Financial Aid paperwork submitted in time, unfortunately.

I've never been to California. Looking forward to it! :loveya:

10. The other day on my way to the bank, I saw a mini-van
either a 96 thereabouts Nissan Quest or Mercury Villager painted in WV colleges. The entire thing!

I've never seen anything like that before. It was an ordinary guy, too, apparently because he didn't have a special license plate or anything. I think it was just someone who loved the school.

Good for you, oktoberain!! You'll do great!

13. You hold a special place in my heart, Midlo...
I'll never forget what you did for Brendan at Christmas. :loveya: Although until this very moment, I've been too ashamed to come out and say it...

17. You have my hearty congratulations! I'll have a cold one for you. And...
I know you'll do fine. My daughter starts college this fall as well - but she is a full 10 years younger than you. You have no idea (yet) what an advantage your experience and maturity gives you.

I remember when my ex (my spouse at the time) started pre-med classes while in her early 30s. After the first few weeks, I was asking her how it was going. She replied that it wasn't as hard as she expected. Her explanation? "I'm competing with younger kids who don't yet appreciate what they're getting."

18. Congratulations!
very proud of you for being the one who broke the mold so to speak.

My dad grew up in a family where he was the first person to graduate college. Now it is like commonplace in his family to have attended college. The brothers and sisters that looked down on him for doing that now look at him much differently.
