but i'm stuck, as of now. Can anyone lend any advice?
i wanted to sign up w/ Bellsouth DSL Lite, and someone here posted about a week ago that it was offered for $10/month, and sure enough, it is. One year contract, free modem, etc.
so i signed. They said min requirements: win2k, xp, vista, etc. I have win2k. They offered a download to check compatibility, on a 56k dialup, would take 3 minutes. After watching it load up to 35 minutes to download, i killed it. I have win2k! i should be fine... i said to myself.
So, package arrives today with self setup kit. I put in the cd to start and it starts and then quits. I am not compatible, must have WIN2K SP1 ...
i tried to dl the sp1 before, and it takes forever on a dialup, and when i stopped the dl, it totally screwed my pooter for days, many fixes (this was a while back and was a real big hassle).
so, now i'm stuck. I can't get out of the one yr contract w/ BS, or it's a $75 fee for early termination. I don't want to try to dl the sp1 again and wait all nite for the download only to have it fuxx up everything again.
supposedly the sp1 is available on cd (recommended for anyone NOT ON BROADBAND (hint, me) but i can't find any way of ordering it from Microsuck, and i can't find a source anywhere else.
Does anyone here have a cd of SP1 (service pack 1) for sale, copy, lend whatever? or would anyone please post this message over in the computer help forum so i can read any suggestions from the comp gurus?
i'm tired, i'm pissed and now stuck with my shitty dialup until i get something different... sigh.
i hate computers. :( dp
