I love my Toyota Camry!
Friday, I was in a little fender bender.

I had just changed lanes, and the Honda civic behind me in my new lane tried to change into the one I was just in. She misjudged the speed/distance, and clipped my left rear bumper; I figured the impact was at a speed differential of < 5 mph.

We pulled off 290 into a parking lot, and I took a look at my bumper. There was a little scraping, but no deformation. A little white paint would fix it up like new.

Her right front bumper was very crumpled, though.

After ascertaining that neither of us was hurt, and exchanging insurance info, she said she'd prefer to settle it out-of-pocket.

I hadn't said a word about blame, she just offered that.

I'll take the Camry in to make sure the damage isn't more than superficial, but I'm guessing she'll be out no more than a touch-up job for me - all that's visible is some scuffing.

She'll be out a bumper for her car, though, I suspect.

Camry bumpers - They can take a beating!

1. Also:
Getting rear-ended by that cute brunette is the only action I'll be getting for at least two weeks, anyway.

2. I once had an '82 Tercel
It was parked out front one day when it was rear-ended by a Chevette going about 30 mph. Cause of accident: two teenage boys and a basketball. Anyway, the whole trunk area was totally crushed, but I could still get all four doors open. I was very impressed.

7. The Camry is a *great* car!
My wife drives a '94 -- it's still in terrific shape. Does everything you want a car to do, and is safe to boot. Can't ask for much more!

8. I slid on ice once and rammed the back of a building..
probably hit it at about 25 mph..

I knocked two holes into the concrete block of the building..

Dusted the concrete dust off of the "rocket launchers" on my front bumper.. The only damage was a few scratches on them..

1962 Dodge Seneca 4 door.. (built like a tank)

9. We've had two Corollas over the years,
and one Camry. Our Camry was totaled (not by me) in 1994, but it was a great car that I sadly only had for 3 months. Our last Corolla was a 91 and it lasted until it had 180,000 miles on it. Actually, it would have lasted longer, but generally speaking, it was my husband's car and without my knowledge, he went over 6,000 without changing the oil. Last May, he was driving it and the engine blew. (I kid you not, this is all true. He's not stupid, just.... I don't know anymore.) Somehow currently, we have ended up with two American cars which makes me rather nervous.

The Corolla IS an American car.

Made in Fremont, CA at the GM/Toyota plant since the late '80's (original home of the Olds Cutlass).

I believe Camry is, but not sure. Anybody know?
