"Want a bipreciousgger peninceptionis" (re: SPAM)
Edited on Thu Jan-22-04 09:19 AM by nostamj
At my office, the attorneys are now averaging 75% spam.

The subject is a new example. According to a staff meeting, the spammers are buying the same spam-killers that we are and finding ways to beat it.

Here's what I don't understand: DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYONE WHO KNOWS ANYONE WHO EVER HEARD OF ANYONE BUYING ANYTHING BASED ON RECEIVING SPAM?

Obviously, a lot of work goes into creating and sending this shit, it would follow that someone has to profit from it.

But how? Sending 100+ penis enlargement spams to the same address EVERY DAY? Once you've gotten through the filters and legitimized the address, how many times can you sell it?

Anyone have information, links, insight, (personal experience) on the BUSINESS of SPAM?

1. I wish I could find the link . . . .
There was a guy a while back (last year sometime I think) who had written a form letter response to send the the companies (not the return address, but he actually tracked down the manufacturers and e-mailed it to them).

The form letter basically thanked them for their offer, but explained that he had used so many similar products in the past few years that his equipment was now larger than he had ever dreamed and had, in fact, become problematic (what with the women screaming in fright, and the purple bruising from the swelling caused by his unnaturally firm erections).

The response was hilarious, I just can't find it now.

3. Thousands have
From...

According to Wired magazine, some 6,000 people ordered pills from Goringly.biz through the Amazing Internet Products Web site over a four-week period, spending on average $100 each for two bottles.

I recall hearing that some of these orders were from MDs(!) and corporate CEOs.

4. When you can advertise to millions of people for pennies an ad
you only need a VERY SMALL fraction to respond to make it worthwhile.
