6. Colleen and Elizabeth
and both daughters actually like them. Elizabeth - i.e. "Beth" was a name I loved after reading LITTLE WOMEN. I still remember my Beth confronting me on it after she read it herself. . ."So, you named me after a DEAD girl?"

This may explain why she chooses to go by her middle name - Allyn.

12. Nope.
And nobody else does either. To us she's "Beth" and to her college friends she's "Allyn." My husband and I knew an "Allyn" when we were kids and we loved the combination of the two names.

17. Grania.
The Irish form of Grace. Also can be spelled Grainne, though that would tend to be mispronounced as "grain".

I like your name as well, and look at it this way...at least you know who people are talking to when they say "Hey, Barbara". You could've been called Ashley or Brittany or some other name that half the females in this country have. :eyes:

Sometimes I feel bad for my niece being stuck with Amanda. It's a pretty name but there are umpteen jillion Amandas her age.

I actually like my name, especially when people pronounce it right (there are 3 syllables in Barbara). I was just pouting 'cause no one ever says it's their favorite.
