ROBIN HOOD IS OURS!!!!!
And he was a Sheffielder to boot (and since Loxley is so close to Hillsborough I hereby claim Robin Hood as a Wednesdayite as well! )

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,3604,1129445,00.html

Not content with pudding, pies and generally being bigger and brasher than everyone else, Britain's largest county is planning to poach a neighbour's 800-year-old symbol.
Yorkshire MPs are asking the government to uproot Nottinghamshire's border signs saying "Welcome to Robin Hood Country" and reinstall them 60 miles further north.

"I've known since my secondary modern schooldays that Robin's really ours," said David Hinchcliffe, Wakefield's Labour member who is leading the plot. "We are awash with Robin Hood sites in Yorkshire and here's the clincher: what outlaw in his right mind would live anywhere near the Sheriff of Nottingham?"

The theory is well attested historically, with medieval Sherwood Forest extending almost to Leeds and putative candidates including Robin of Locksley (a South Yorkshire estate) and Robin Hode, a 12th century outlaw born on the site of Wakefield bus station.

6. On the bright side
The 2 teams above them, Norwich & West Brom are both managed by ex-Wednesday players. If they were to get promoted and the pigs stay down it would be quite funny.

Plus we have a good chance of winning the LDV Vans Trophy. It's not much but all the same, it's nice to know that where our oinking chums from soddall lane have a distinctly threadbare trophy cabinet we do not.

Now if only we can start winning league matches and get back into division 1. :eyes: There is only one team fit to represent Sheffield and they wear blue & white stripes and play in S6.

I grew up in the Hunters Bar area of town, but I left in search of Knighthoods & mucky women. (Haven't found the knighthood yet though! )

These days I live in Chelmsford, Essex. I try to get back once every so often. Last Wednesday match I saw was over Christmas while I'm on the subject and it was a diabolical 0-0 draw with Chesterfield.

Didn't you know that England tossed us out years ago and that is why we live in the States and Australia.
