1. I loved that show.
I wish my kids could have grown up with programming like that. He will be missed.

2. He's Been Reunited With Mr. Greenjeans
RIP, Bob Keeshan, and thanks.

(Bit o'Trivia - Bob Keeshan was the original Clarabell the Clown on "Howdy Doody". After NBC fired him, he went to CBS and became a children's TV legend.)

3. He was a Marine.
Enlisted in 1945, right after the war ended.
However, the stories about earning the Navy Cross or the Medal of Honor are urban legends.
I hope the sky opens up at his funeral and millions of ping-pong balls fall down.
So long, Cap'n.

4. Aw man!
Edited on Fri Jan-23-04 03:35 PM by xray s
The two guys I grew up with on TV died this week.

I lived in Chicago. We had the Captain on channel 2, and Ray Rayner and Friends on channel 9. Ray died this week too.

A lot of nice memories.

So long Captain! We will miss you. Bye-bye-bye Ray! Say hi to Chelveston!
