1. I strenuously disagree:
scotch is very good!

2. Yes...but what brand?
I'm drinking a single malt (Glenlivet) and it's pretty damned tasty right now. Are you talking about that blended stuff? Some of that is good, too

3. Lagavulin and Talisker are my favorites,
although I've barely scratched the surface. In terms of blends, I really like Johnnie Walker Green. However, it's tough to go wrong with scotch...

The bad is very bad.

5. It must be an acquired taste
because I think it tastes like varnish remover.

7. I hated scotch til I tasted some single malt.
Don't mix it,drink it straight up or on the rocks.

9. I've tried single malt on the rocks and straight up.
Glenlivet, Knockandhu, a few others. It tastes like a somewhat smoother kind of varnish remover than the blended kind. In fact, I gave away a bottle of Glenlivet I'd acquired (it came with my house) because I didn't want to drink it. I don't like bourbon, either.

6. I enjoy the Glenmorangie 12 year, and the 12 year with the
port wood finish.

8. Scotch is good, but wine is fine.
A pity it's been 23 years since I've tasted either.
