Like if you wanted to craft your own card front (as well as the inside greeting).

4. Thanks.
I didn't know if it would be Office Depot or one of those craft stores like "Michael's" or whatever.

Thanks--I'll check at Office Depot.

5. you're welcome
the card stock I have is 8.5 x 11, so I cut it in half. I'm not sure if you can buy it in different sizes.

s <--- I see I left this out of my other post, so I put it here. :D

6. Okay.
I'll go check it all out to see what the choices are. I don't even know what a standard greeting card size is, so I probably ought to measure that.

2. Just buy card stock.
MrSG has done our Christmas cards for years, and that's what he does. You have to get the envelopes separately, I think.

7. Craft stores like Michael's and Hobby Lobby carry plain cards with envelopes, in multiple colors and
sizes -used by rubber stampers, other crafty types.

I made homemade valentines for years with my kids and a friend and her girls, and once we got past the construction paper stage we used these types of cards. We had so much fun doing it! Stickers, rubber stamps, doilies, ribbons, decorator chalks, fancy papers, and on and on. Ahhh, the memories!

8. Hmmmm. Since it's a first time project for me
maybe I should start with the 'kit' -- blank cards with the envelopes together. Even I can't mess that up!

Sounds like a great time with your kids, plus I bet the recipients loved them!

9. ooh - thanks
I hadn't actually thought about that. I buy blank card stock and use the computer to create the card, then print it out.
Your way has lots of interesting potential.

10. Get the Fabriano Medioevalis Stationery cards from Dick Blick
Edited on Thu Aug-02-07 07:23 AM by Rabrrrrrr
These are fantastic cards - they have single cards, or folded, in a variety of sizes, as well as envelopes. The paper is super high quality, takes water colors well, and is made by one of the world's finest paper makers.

Dick Blick sells them at the largest discount I've ever found.

They might seem pricey at first, but remember, these are boxes of 100, so you can actually super high quality paper cards and envelopes for about 40-50 cents, which is about $1.50 to $2.00 cheaper than mass produced shitty things from Hallmark with the abysmal poetry and empty, vacuous words and God-awful artwork.

The Fabriano paper also, of course, takes well to watercolors and other art treatments.
