It's been about two years. Once we decided to try and have a baby, we quit smoking pot because it's not good for fertility. I do miss it some days, though.

15. Less than 24 hours

It's amusing to me that so many people think of pot as evil weed. I haven't missed one day of work for the past 10 years due to illness. I've never been pulled over for DUI. My marriage is intact. And I'm protecting myself against glaucoma and Alzheimer's. (well, maybe)

I also don't like joints - they stink and cost too much - but my last pipe was less than 24 hours ago. I am college educated, live with partner of 5 years (am only 28) have never received government benefits, have always worked or been a full time student have never been arrested and have not yet suffered "reefer madness" that said I'd really like to give it up - after ten years I'm tired of it and would like to spend my cash on something a bit more useful. To any curious types out there, it's not evil, it wont kill you but it will have effects - for me the reduction in motivation and short term memory loss are the biggies, then there's all the cancer's associated with the smoking itself....oh jees, now I really need a pipe!

16. It's been since Christmas week

I don't smoke much anymore expect when some of my friends come home from out of state. Over Christmas I was pretty fried. I forgot what it was like to be stoned.

19. Got it out of my system REAL early-- Jr High and High School

I had a childhood friend who's brother was the biggest dealer in town, so we scored pot off him all the time. Consequently, we all started smoking in 6th grade, and continued until 11th grade or so.

By then, most of us realized it was a fairly stupid habit that did nothing but eat up our money (kids in my 'hood started working at 15 at the latest, so we all had $$, if not a lot of it).

The last time I got high was once in college, when somebody was passing the bong. I took one hit, got a really shitty buzz, and have not smoked since.

That was in 1989. So it's been 15 years.

...when my host offered. I couldn't smoke for years, becuae of drug testing in the Forces, but once I was free to, I didn't want to. Life in a nutshell.

And I'm laying off for a while. I've been spending WAY too much money on it, and it seems to be interfering with my writing.

My problem is I was lazy and unmotivated before I ever smoked pot, so there's never much incentive to quit. I'll smoke again but I'm planning to take about a month off.
