You can learn the strangest things by reading a dictionary...
File this under weird entries from the Nahuatl to English dictionary.

COCHHUIA - vt:

1).- to have intercourse with a woman who is asleep,
2).- to rock someone in one's arms.

I can't help but wonder, why would a language have a special word for this.

5. Thanks for the kick!
I actually went to a dinner at Harvard a few years back where a friend of mine received a lifetime achievement award for his work on Mesoamerican cultures.

All this being a lead-in to a dinner table conversation where I learned that both Maya and Aztec cultures had very strange drug rituals that were social in nature.

You see... they had this method of taking drugs that would be equivalent in our culture to a... hum....

high colonic....

Of course, having no flexible hoses at the time, this required assistance from a partner blowing into a large, especially shaped gourd...

3. Makes me think of the word "spooning"
I guess that's the closest equivalent term in American culture.
