Man sentenced for marrying his 15-year-old cousin
Edited on Mon Jan-26-04 04:34 PM by Edge
My apologies if this was already posted.

Monday, January 26, 2004 Posted: 1:46 PM EST (1846 GMT)

A member of Utah's polygamous Kingston clan was sentenced Monday to a year in prison for taking a 15-year-old cousin -- who was also his aunt -- as his wife.

Jeremy Ortell Kingston pleaded guilty to incest in an arrangement with prosecutors. The felony charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor if Kingston successfully completes three years' probation.

Kingston was 24 when he took LuAnn Kingston as his fourth wife in 1995. Family members say he has at least 17 children.

17. No, but I hear the song...
I'm my own Grandpa

It sounds funny, I know,
But it really is so,
Oh, I’m my own grandpa.

I’m my own grandpa.
I’m my own grandpa.
It sounds funny, I know,
But it really is so,
Oh, I’m my own grandpa.

Now many, many years ago, when I was twenty-three,
I was married to a widow who was pretty as could be.
This widow had a grown-up daughter who had hair of red.
My father fell in love with her, and soon they, too, were wed.

This made my dad my son-in-law and changed my very life,
My daughter was my mother, cause she was my father’s wife.
To complicate the matter, even though it brought me joy,
I soon became the father of a bouncing baby boy.

My little baby then became a brother-in-law to Dad,
And so became my uncle, though it made me very sad.
For if he was my uncle, then that also made him brother
Of the widow’s grown-up daughter, who, of course, was my stepmother.

Father’s wife then had a son who kept him on the run,
And he became my grandchild, for he was my daughter’s son.
My wife is now my mother’s mother, and it makes me blue,
Because, although she is my wife, she’s my grandmother, too.

Now if my wife is my grandmother, then I’m her grandchild,
And everytime I think of it, it nearly drives me wild,
For now I have become the strangest case you ever saw
As husband of my grandmother, I am my own grandpa!

I’m my own grandpa.
I’m my own grandpa.
It sounds funny, I know, but it really is so,
Oh, I’m my own grandpa.

6. But, we have to protect the sanctity of marriage!

The good news is that the authorities are finally prosecuting these crimes.

8. Ok, wait a minute
His aunt AND his cousin? That means, and I apoligize if I get a little confused on this, that his parent's sibling was also another of his parents' siblings?

that's pretty weird, hombre.

16. Really?
Is that a regional thing (like only in Spain or Mexico or S. Amer)? I actually didn't know that. (I'm doing my spanish homework right now too, so I've got it on my mind.)
