Update on my new job (if you are interested)
I feed compelled to give you guys an update since so many of you sent well wishes (and booze) :D when I got this position.

Well, it's been about 3 months at the new job career. It hasn't been easy and I'm working my ASS off but it is sure as hell rewarding (imagine that, a REWARDING position).

I LOVE what I do and am learning more and more every day. The job has EXACTLY the right mix of technology (Unix, scripting, database programming), client management (metrics, reporting, account management), data analysis (marketing stats, ROI analysis, industry trends, competitive research) and Internet Technology (SEO/SEM).

I work with some VERY intelligent people who all love what they do. The company is diverse and 100% focused on the employees. Of course the clients are #1 BUT if the clients step out of bounds, the company will let them know about it and protect the employees. The office of about 50 people is 99.99% LIBERAL and CREATIVE! :woohoo:

LARGE, national corporation but our division is separated by thousands of miles, so we get the bennies of the corporate $$ without the corporate bullshit. They leave us alone basically because they aren't sure what we do (my company was acquired about 2 years ago). As long as we are profitable, we get what we want.

A GM who does little things like give up his cushy parking space to a monthly 'winner' who gets recognized by fellow employees for outstanding efforts.

Jeans, shorts, t-shirts, sneakers are perfectly fine any day of the week (except for the odd day a client comes in to visit).

Total flex time, work from home if I need to, no questions asked. Don't want to commute in a snow storm? Don't come in. Doctor's appointment at an odd hour far from the office? Go ahead and work from home that day.

I am FINALLY doing something rewarding, challenging and important. Beats the HELL out of IT support for Mortgage Brokers! :D

:hi:
