I love Angelina Jolie
and freely admit that on almost every level possible she is just better than me.

she is prettier, smarter, does much more good for the world than i do and more talented.

this doesnt make me hate her, it makes me admire her.

that is all.

(i think i have a cuter spouse)

3. She's not using Africa as a publicity stunt....
...I find irony that one of the first thing both Paris Hilton and Lindsey Lohan each said after getting out of Jail/Rehab was that they were going to go to Africa to do good works.

When did Africa become fricking 'community service' for bimbos who have busted up their life with poor social decisions. And if Paris & Lindsey want to do some good - go to fricking New Orleans and help build a few house for people still without their homes from after Katrina (or if not New Orleans - host of other really good locations right here in the states).

Angelina became more of an activist after filming part of the first Tomb Raider movie in Cambodia (where her first child is adopt). Since then she become UN Refuge Ambassador where she has NOT taken that position lightly - travelling to all sorts of challenging places globally including places like Dafur.

I think Angelina is beautiful and I also believe she's made Brad Pitt a much better person (less of the Party boy like he was with Aniston and all the other starlets he dated before her).

4. Don't sell yourself short
You're pretty damn smart in my book. And, I've always found Jolie to be more sexy than actually beautiful.

I find her social activism to be very impressive, but she also has the money and the platform to do a lot of good in the world - who is to say you wouldn't do even better if you were in the same position? But, she certainly does more than many in her position.

public services and charity work are admirable. If it weren't for that, I would have absolutely nothing for her.

I would at least wait for them to break up. Seems like the right thing to do. But that is just me I suppose. And I wouldn't say it was an upgrade.

15. I don't admire her at all.
This is a woman who used to brag about how she slept with every man she made a movie with---even if they were married. That's how she broke up Pitt's marriage. I have little respect for either of them. If you are married, break up with your spouse and then have the affair. If you are single, don't have an affair with someone who is married. Those two deserve each other. We will hear of their divorce some day. I wonder how many times they have cheated on each other already.

19. the only thing is
Edited on Wed Nov-14-07 11:56 AM by idgiehkt
that I remember reading that Pitt wanted kids, and Aniston didn't. Anistion was about 35 at the time, I think. I think Pitt went through this thing where he got to feeling really paternal, which is pretty common for men at that age if they've not yet had kids, and Angelina kind of happened along. So...gawd, the inanity of this post just hit me...

the long-awaited bullet has entered my brain. I give a shit about celebrity personal lives...

34. yup, Brad Pitt has always said he wanted kids
and jennifer aniston obviously does not, which is her choice. But to marry a person knowing you do not want children and they do, well I think its a recipe for disaster. It eventually is going to be an issue either way. I do not blame Angelina Jolie for "breaking" up the marriage of Pitt and Aniston. That was Brad Pitts choice.

if "what goes around, comes around". If or when they break up, it's going to be a real battle over money and custody rights. The tabloids are going to have a field day with them. Oh well, they made their bed...

Why does she have to go to other countries when there are children in the USA who need help too. Her good deeds aren't worth defending. Hell, even Hitler gave money to orphans.

26. I doubt it's a third. Alot of the complain about their rate of taxation
because they are in the highest bracket. I don't believe for a minute that many other celebrites give that percentage of their income to charity like she does. Not trying to be offensive...and I welcome any links because I'd love to know about it if some do. But I'm a skeptic, because that is SO much money. We make a big deal when Rosie or Sandra Bullock donates a million to Katrina victims, but that is a fraction of what they make, and Jolie does it every year. Alot of them have charities where they are hitting other celebrities up for donations, which is not the same thing. And I always find it interesting that you usually hear about these huge donations right before tax season, I think an awful lot of it is an offset.

No, I don't care to find another celebrity who donates a third of her write-off taxes income. Geez, why all the Jolie love here at DU? Why do a lot of people think just because a person gives to charity that that puts them on a pedastal. Angie's quite good at stealing other women's men.

which I think was deleted, gave me that impression. Yeah, it's possible she might have issues around 'taken' men, but it takes two to tango, you know. I'd like to see these men held responsible for their actions. No one here is calling Pitt a bleached-blond-skank-man-whore wife-leaver.

28. I admire her dedication.
She's done a lot to raise the profile of many causes.

But, as a parent, I can't help but feel that her children would benefit from a more settled life. With all the traveling they do, do they even have friends? I feel a little sorry for them; as much as they love their parents and siblings, they have to be missing some crucial socialization.

31. I don't love her...
neither do I hate her.

I don't appreciate her looks, although I recognize I'm in the minority in that opinion. I think she's creepy looking.

As an actress, I can take her or leave her.

As for wearing Billy-Bob Thornton's blood around or neck, or frenching her brother.... just ew.

For being a part in breaking up Brad and Jennifer's marriage? Booo!

But as for helping African and Asian orphans? Thumbsup!

I guess... like everybody else who was born of a woman, she's a mixed bag.

35. I didn't think it was anything but affectionate
and I was under the distinct impression that he was gay. Having watched that kiss live I was really surprised that the press twisted it like they did, I couldn't believe it, I just assumed it was because she came to that awards show dressed like a goth chic (and looking better than anyone else there IMO, but I like alternative styles). I was that kind of surprised when the USA women's soccer team won the world cup and the press sexualized Brandi Chastain's gesture at the end where she pulled her shirt off and ran around the field. I couldn't get over that either, it was a jog-bra for crying out loud. Stuff like that just makes me scratch my head, but I guess there are a lot of slow news days.

44. I saw it, to me it looked more like a peck on the mouth
hadn't she just won a golden globe or oscar or something? I dunno, to me it was just a lame-O attempt by the media to paint someone who was a little different as being even more of a freak because she kissed her brother on the mouth. I never thought a thing about it after seeing it til the next day when the media perverted it up. Power of suggestion is amazing.

But I do profoundly admire her humanitarian and charity work and her commitment to progressive causes and social justice. And I don't hold her success against her -it's funny, I used to dislike her but now I think she is a genuinely good actress and very talented in playing a number of diverse roles.
