How many people do you know in Iraq?
One of my best friend's sons is back for his 2nd or 3rd tour, a family friend leaves with his reserve unit in January and my brother may leave in January as well. Brother was all set to ship out last month but he had some blood pressure issues that made them keep him home. Thank god for high blood pressure. I wish this was over already and I wish the news emphasized that we're at war instead of talking about shit like the hot Xmas toy and Thanksgiving sales figures. There's just no sense of perspective. I want all of us to feel the war dammit.

1. I knew a kid who was in Iraq. His mother is a former co-worker of mine.
It was rough for her, when he was gone. Me and a lot of other people she knew did what we could to support her during that time, and after he came back home.

And I agree with you. There is so sense of perspective. "If it ain't on the teevee, it ain't happening", right? x(

2. My dear Connonym...
I don't currently know anybody over there...

But...

My son-in-law's sister was married to a guy who died there...

He was killed by a road-side bomb a couple of years ago...

That was the same summer that my brother-in-law committed suicide....

One of the worst summers of my life...

My family has recovered from all this shit...

4. Thanks, my dear SeattleGirl...
It was an awful time, but as I said above, we truly have recovered from it...

My sil's sister has a new husband and a beautiful new son, and they are very happy!

And you know, you go on, and you recover...

Thanks, sweetie...

6. A friend and former co-worker
He's an Arabic translator and gets sent to some heavy duty areas. Last I heard he was on a mountain between the Turks and the Kurds while they were shelling each other. Its about time for me to check in with him, hopefully he has moved to the green zone or Kuwait.
