Radio Lady's Journal: Hannah Montana 3D movie tickets on sale now!
Edited on Sat Dec-01-07 02:58 PM by Radio_Lady

ADVANCE TICKETS GO ON SALE DECEMBER 1ST FOR 3D FILM ENGAGEMENT OF DISNEY’S “HANNAH MONTANA & MILEY CYRUS: BEST OF BOTH WORLDS CONCERT”

Advance tickets for the February 1 - 8, 2008 one-week 3D film engagement of Walt Disney Pictures’ “Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert,” will go on sale starting on December 1st.

The film, which captures the fun and excitement of the current sold-out 54-city concert tour, will be exhibited in state-of-the-art Disney Digital 3D™ and will play in theatres across the country for one-week between February 1-7, 2008. The ongoing “Concert Tour” was created and produced by Kenny Ortega (director of the “High School Musical” Disney Channel Original Movies). The 3D concert film is being directed by Disney veteran Bruce Hendricks, and produced by Art Repola. Tickets can be purchased online at the movie's official website, http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/hannahmontana3d or at participating theatres. (All cities and theaters have yet to be confirmed to the press.)

Chuck Viane, President of Distribution at Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, stated, “With all the tremendous interest and overwhelming demand for tickets to see Miley Cyrus in concert, we wanted to make sure that moviegoers had ample opportunity to purchase tickets in advance for this special limited engagement. This is a perfect holiday gift for ‘Hannah Montana’ fans, and a great way to reserve a seat for this unique theatrical experience. This digitally projected 3D experience gives audiences everywhere a front row seat for one of the hottest shows in town, and allows them to see it in a unique and exciting way.”

Seven state-of-the-art 3D digital cameras, provided by Cameron/Pace Designs were used to film three recent concerts in two cities on the “Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert.” The film’s director of photography is Mitch Amundsen (“Transformers” and Martin Scorsese’s upcoming documentary, “Shine a Light”). Renowned editor Michael Tronick, whose most recent credit is “Hairspray,” is also part of the production team.

***

This is a limited run movie event scheduled in multiple cities from Friday, February 1 through Friday, February 8. Guess what our granddaughter wants for her 10th birthday! Hannah/Miley is the hottest kid singing and acting star among the pre-teen set, or so I'm told. There appear to be no press passes or previews, so I'm trying to get four PAID tickets on the internet. Oh, what we grandmothers do to connect with our grandkids! So far, this site does not recognize our city of Portland, Oregon: http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/hannahmontana3d

More later... stay tuned.

3. The last 3D movie I remember attending was "Bwana Devil" in the 1950s.
Edited on Sat Dec-01-07 03:09 PM by Radio_Lady
A lion jumped right out of the screen into my lap!

We did try to see "Ghosts of the Abyss" a few years ago, but the 3D glasses weren't working and the movie was pretty abysmal as well.

Might have to do that if we don't get tickets soon.

I'd like to convince my granddaughter to go and see "The Nutcracker" ballet, but so far... no dice.

10. Well, try saying "No..." to a beautiful granddaughter who is pleading to go to the film!
Edited on Sun Dec-02-07 02:44 AM by Radio_Lady
Besides that, her birthday is January 31st, so it makes a perfect gift.

If it gets too loud, I might have to resort to earplugs or a slow walk to the lobby -- but we did get four tickets for Saturday, February 2nd. My daughter and I will take the two young children (ages 9 and 6) and leave the daddies to do something else that day.

By the way, they are charging $15.00 per ticket, with a $2.00 service charge for each ticket purchased.

20. How old is this kid?
My beautiful 12 year old daughter, who wanted to go the the live concert, when she heard how much tickets were going for said "You have GOT to be kidding, right?"

Her fascination with Tween Divas has fallen off drastically since then: maybe it's the pictures of the several children we sponsor in India that keep her a little more grounded (one of which SHE earns the money for).

This is not to disparage you or your granddaughter: merely to give a little 2007 perspective.

21. Oh, and the way I say "No" is ....
"No."

And I'd offer her TWO or THREE film tickets of her choice in substitution, OR maybe tickets for her and two friends on a Saturday.

I think Disney is rich enough, don't you? And $18 bucks to see some little Tween prance around on the stage with her juvenile pseudo sexual bump and grind dancing is a little much in my book, and not 100% appropriate.

I hope we don't start a war on this.

We're flying to Florida -- and Disney World -- next weekend.

My wife and I, along with family and friends, will be staying near Sea World in our time share. We spend our days walking, swimming, cooking and going to consignment/thrift stores (one of our passions).

Tickets to the Disney attractions are REALLY over the top, but the two of us will get in for free (probably on two one day passes at Epcot center) because it's a reward for taking the time share's new tour. Last year, we had the other two grandkids at the time share.

29. Okay, I'll tell you the basserie joke.
Donald Rumsfeld is briefing George Bush on the progress of the war in Iraq and tells him that two Basserie soldiers were killed the other day.

Bush gets this horrified look, then buries his face in his hands and starts sobbing.

All the staffers are struck silent by this show of emotion. Finally Bush looks up and asks, "How much is a Basserie?"

Where do these celebrities come up with these goofy names? Every time I hear it, it morphs into "Smiley" in my brain and I get this mental image of Krusty the Clown.

I wanted to give them names that were unlikely to be made fun of or have horrid nicknames made of. Sometimes I daydream about what life would have been like had I named them Anorexia and Piglet but most of the time I like their names. And so do they. :P

That got approved quickly. By the way, at that time, you could change a FIRST name just by usage, unless you were trying to defraud someone.

HINT:

His first name used to be like -- the lead singer in the Chipmunks!

26. Please see my personal journal. I am part of the media here in Portland, Oregon.
Edited on Mon Dec-03-07 05:41 PM by Radio_Lady
Also, I have had a thirty-five year career in TV and radio, and now volunteer for Oregon Public Broadcasting where I have a one-hour weekly talk show. On that show, I discuss whatever I want to, including upcoming films, theater, opera, and frequently review them after they open. Since I have many grandchildren who like movies, you'll find me talking about all of the things we do together both on my audio show and in my web journal. My husband, Audio Al, joins me on my show to talk about books and audiobooks, and the many things we do in our busy lives here in retirement.

For the record, we don't own Disney stock, but we do take family members to Disney films and also to their theme parks. We are now scheduled into our Orlando time share this month nearer to the holidays.

You can put whatever spin on my posts that you wish. However, any further speculation about me or my husband -- or personal attacks on our motivations -- will not be welcome in this thread or any others.

Making peace a priority for the holidays and the New Year 2008,

Radio Lady in Oregon

Either way, how does promoting a Disney product help your local public radio station? I know the station gets loads of PR crap from PR flaks, but usually the freebies get stripped and the releases are roundfiled.

19. THE SEVENTH SEAL IS OPENED!!!

Revelations 8
<1> And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.
<2> And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.
<3> And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.
<4> And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.
<5> And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.
<6> And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.
<7> The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.
<8> And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;
<9> And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.
<10> And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;
<11> And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.
<12> And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.
<13> And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!

Or, nothing at all might happen.
