Yes, I am bragging. Best parent/teacher conference EVER.
I met with SophieMN's teacher for her first kindergarten conference of the school year, today.
Sophie's doing very well academically, which is great, but the best part was the teacher's characterization of my girl sprout. She said Soph is "an absolute delight," and that she's an incredibly mature, kind, good little person. She related an incident that occurred last week, and started CRYING over the empathetic manner in which Sophie handled an insult from another student. She actually thanked me for doing such "a great job" of raising Sophie. I will remember this when Sophie is sixteen and tells me I'm the worst mom ever. :D

I'm completely beaming; I'm so proud of my little gal.

15. That's my hope, as well.
I know Noel didn't meet his reading goal.
The stupid program they have requires the kids to read *certain* books and test on them.
Noel wants to read (lengthier) books that he finds compelling- the program doesn't exactly enable that.
It's stupid. Education should nurture a love for reading; that's not what the system does.

2. You gotta get it in writing.
Or maybe even a recording of the teacher saying that. Otherwise the 16 year old SophieMN won't believe you. :)

5. It must be that time of year for kindergarten conferences
Congratulations on the good review! Did you have any doubts?

Our daughter had hers yesterday, too. It was also very positive.

But, I'm sure when Sophie is 16, she will ask you for a videotaped & notorized version of the teacher saying you did a great job raising her...

10. It does!
I know what Sophie's like at home, but how kids behave at school can be another story.
It's always rewarding to hear that someone who spends a lot of time with your child thinks you're doing a good job.

:D

17. I wasnt disruptive, but...
I was usually told that despite my obvious intelligence, I lack the desire to do the work required to succeed, blah blah blah...

Fast forward to today and here I am about to start med school next fall...

How does that work again?

good job for both of you!

isn't it great when other adults tell you how cool your kids are? I had a similar P-t meeting last month about my son.

16. Thanks! I'm so proud of her (obviously!)
My foremost goal for my kids is that they grow up to be good, empathetic, caring people. To hear that Sophie's already exhibiting related characteristics is really encouraging.

18. Oh fabulous!!
Not that I had any doubts.

I'm sure the teacher enjoyed the conference too. I don't think they often get to give such a glowing report.

Props to both you and Sophie!
