13. Heres one that has plagued me since I was a kid......
I personally believe in my heart that time does not exist ....not at all....time is something we came up with to measure change...that's right change. So technically time does not exist only change we just choose to measure change by time. Just my 2 cents. :bounce:

I think you may just understand better what time really is rather than it's not existing.

34. If you believe Einstien's theories,
Space and time are really just one thing, called space-time, and there are four dimensions of space-time, not three of space and one of time. Not only is it difficult to visualize or comprehend, he goes further. Those dimensions can be curved by gravity. The dimensions of space and time (which are the same thing in Einstein's theory - they're all just space-time) can be warped or curved by the gravitational force of matter. All the matter in the universe exerts a gravitational pull on the dimensions of space-time, curving the dimensions themselves, to the point that they wrap around and meet the beginning. All four dimensions are curved, and are finite, and yet have no end, in the same way that a circle is a line that is finite but has no end, or in the way that the surface of the Earth is finite, yet there is no beginning or end to it. The universe is similar, in that there is no beginning or end to it, yet it is finite, because the force of gravity bends the dimensions of it, causing the dimensions themselves to wrap around and close in on itself. If you sent a spaceship in a single direction, ultimately it would come back to its starting point, without changing its apparent direction of travel. The actual size of the universe is dependent on how much mass there is in all the matter in the universe, and I have read estimates ranging from 27 billion light years to 80 billion light-years in diameter (with one light-year being approximately six trillion miles). If all this is clear as mud, you might want to read the short book "The Universe and Dr. Einstein" by Lincoln Barnett, which explains it clearly. Or, consider the saying that "Time is nature's way of preventing everything from happening at once."

19. How about a philosophical limerick?
I can't claim any originality, but there are two connected ones which arise from the British empiricist tradition - one which states the query and one which provides an answer to it:

There was a young man who said "God
"Must think it exceedingly odd
"When he finds that this tree
"Continues to be
"When there's no one around in the quad."

Dear Sir, your astonishment's odd
I am always around in the quad
Which is why that tree
Will continue to be
Since observed by, yours faithfully, God.

Edited on Thu Dec-13-07 10:57 AM by YankeyMCC
You know the particles or property of something that makes it 'inherently good' or their anti-particle the 'badon'?

By means of technical instrumentation I mean not just our "guts". ;)
