it should be no surprise that Utah has higher depression rates than most states...half the married population is spiritually subject to their husband's whims.

this and some other stuff ended my married friends' relationship with the Mormon church. what they said made them particularly angry was that they had to belong for quite a while before really finding out those "show stoppers".

i find the whole missionary discussion process very misleading and intentionally so.

Well, you never can tell what life is going to throw at you, can you? I married a born-again conservative Christian Republican and I'm incredibly happy in my marriage. Our rare discussions about politics have become easier in the last couple of years. She always distrusted Bush and hated the war in Iraq; now she openly mocks him, expresses respect for Al Gore, and just rolls her eyes at the news of the latest repuke sex scandals. People can grow, and we CAN be happy with people so completely different from us.

Having said that, not all situations are alike. Please protect yourself, sweetie. Make sure this guy is really who you want. If it's "'love', I think", then take a second look. And remember, we're all here for you...
